What Data for This Category Looks Like
This category covers manufacturers of single-use consumables, implantable and interventional devices, diagnostic equipment, and active medical devices. Daily documents include production process specifications, batch production records, cleanroom zone records, sterilization batch records, test reports, software version records, adverse event and traceability materials. Data sources include design history files, device and material lots, MES systems, clean environment monitoring equipment, sterilization equipment, test and calibration systems. Update frequency applies to each batch or each device, per environmental monitoring plans. Documents contain fields such as sterilization parameters, clean environment monitoring values, device lot identifiers, and software version numbers. Some documents include structured tables and timestamp information.
Constraints Imposed on Document Parsing and Chunking
This category has diverse document types. Some are long, coherently written production process specifications. Others are structured test reports and sterilization records in table form. Key traceable metadata such as batch numbers and sterilization parameters must be retained. Multi-source data comes from different systems and equipment. Parsing workflows must adapt to input files in different formats. High update frequency requires parsing workflows to quickly process new documents. It also avoids loss of key fields. Additionally, product risk levels are relatively high. Chunks generated after parsing must accurately associate metadata. This ensures search results can be traced back to corresponding production batches and environmental parameters.
Configuration Settings
This document uses configuration rules for FastGPT v4.17.0.
| Configuration Item | Recommended Setting | Rationale |
|---|---|---|
chunkSize | 800–1200 characters | This category’s documents include both long-form process specifications and structured test reports. This range balances context completeness and search accuracy. It avoids overly fragmented chunks that lose information, or overly long chunks that reduce search efficiency |
customPdfParse | Enabled | This category’s documents include structured fields such as sterilization parameters and cleanroom temperature and humidity readings. Enabling custom parsing accurately extracts and associates metadata. It prevents loss of critical business information that can occur with generic parsing |
PARSE_FILE_TIMEOUT_SECONDS | 300–600 seconds | Some archived batch production records and sterilization batch records have large file sizes. This range reserves sufficient parsing time to avoid timeout errors |
chunkSplitter | Paragraph + semantic chunking | This category’s documents include both coherent process description paragraphs and structured test item tables. Mixed chunking preserves information relevance and supports multiple document structure types |
UPLOAD_FILE_MAX_SIZE | 1000 MB | This category requires archiving collections of documents related to multiple batches. This setting covers file size requirements for most bulk upload scenarios |
chunkSettingMode | Custom mode | Adjustments to chunking rules are required for different document types. This supports parsing requirements for multiple business documents such as production process specifications and test reports |
Three Common Configuration Errors
- When uploading sterilization batch records in Excel format, parsing fails. The interface displays an unsupported file format prompt. Cause: Default parsing configurations do not adapt to Excel-structured documents. Corresponding parsing rules or replacement tools are not enabled.
- After relevant chunks are retrieved, corresponding batch numbers, sterilization parameters, and other metadata cannot be accessed. Cause: Metadata extraction configuration for custom parsing is not enabled. Structured fields in documents are not associated with search results.
- Timeout errors occur when parsing large batch production records. A 504 status code is returned. Cause: The
PARSE_FILE_TIMEOUT_SECONDSconfiguration value is too small. Sufficient time is not reserved for parsing and chunking large documents.
How to Verify Proper Configuration
- Upload a sterilization batch record PDF document. Check if parsed chunks include fields such as sterilization time and batch number. Verify metadata extraction works correctly.
- Upload test documents in different formats (PDF, TXT). Verify all formats can be parsed normally without error prompts.
- Adjust
chunkSizeto the 600–1000 character range. After searching test text, check if chunk lengths match configured values. - Upload an archived document collection of approximately 500 MB. Verify upload and parsing processes complete without timeouts or failures.
The values provided here are common starting points. They should be evaluated against samples relevant to the specific deployment context.
