What the documents look like
Return refurbishment and resale handling reverse logistics and item condition. This differs from first-leg replenishment management, which concerns inbound stock movement rather than returned goods. Daily materials come from overseas warehouse WMS, TikTok return centers, Amazon return reports and product inspection photos. They form return inspection sheets, refurbishment records, scrap lists and resale listing checklists. These materials record the path of an item from return to sellable or scrapped status. Citation tracing answers a specific question: which sentence in which material supports a given product data point or selection conclusion.
Materials are produced daily or per batch. Citation checks apply to a specific batch. A daily update frequency does not by itself imply that batch synchronization, full synchronization, real-time triggers or transaction-triggered mechanisms exist.
The knowledge base search node can associate one or more knowledge bases that share the same vector model. Its output is an array of citations, and the length may be zero. When the array is empty, the output path still runs. Citation tracing requires the answer to correspond item by item to retrieved source text. The retrieval output passes to the answering stage, where a reviewer checks whether the answer uses the citation content and its source wording.
Minimum relevance is a 0-1 filter threshold. It takes effect only in semantic retrieval or result reranking. It filters low-relevance results and does not perform permission or entity isolation. Sharing the same vector model is an association condition for knowledge bases and does not extend to external systems. Hybrid retrieval merges multiple result paths through RRF as part of the retrieval process; there is no corresponding toggle for it.
Constraints at the citation tracing step
A hypothetical paper exercise sample is given here. A return inspection sheet states: "Batch B-0714, item is a folding chair, inspection conclusion is refurbishable, outer packaging damaged, main structure intact, inspection date 2025-07-14." A refurbishment record states: "Batch B-0714, outer packaging replaced, refurbishment completion date 2025-07-16, post-refurbishment status pending resale listing review." The draft sentence to be assessed is: "Batch B-0714 folding chair has completed refurbishment and can be directly listed for resale." In checking, the inspection sheet supports "refurbishable." The refurbishment record only states "pending resale listing review." The phrase "can be directly listed for resale" in the draft sentence is not supported by the materials.
A pending review status does not prove that an operating permission is absent. Signing, reaching cooperation and contract effectiveness are three distinct facts. A quotation validity period does not indicate a supply period. Do not add authorization or effectiveness clauses to obtain a definite answer; keep the evidence gap explicit.
Configuration and implementation checks
The table below lists documented settings or implementation check items relevant to this feature, centered on the sample above. Values are starting points for this hypothetical exercise, with the comparison object stated.
| Configuration or check item | Hypothetical starting point for this exercise | Reason and comparison method |
|---|---|---|
| Associated knowledge bases | Associate only knowledge bases holding return inspection sheets and refurbishment records | Check that the vector model identifiers of the knowledge bases match; if identifiers differ, do not associate them together |
| Search mode | Hybrid retrieval | Batch numbers and item names are exact queries and are used together with semantic recall; compare whether citations contain the batch number source text under both modes |
| Minimum relevance | No fixed value; first record the displayed default value | This value takes effect only in semantic retrieval or reranking; compare it against whether the sample citation is filtered out |
| Citation limit | Record the currently displayed value | The unit is tokens; compare it against the length of the sample citation content and observe whether truncation occurs |
| Question optimization | Off initially | The sample question has a complete subject; compare retrieval time and citation changes with it on |
| Result reranking | Not enabled initially | A rerank model must be available and enabled per settings; compare with the 0-1 score filtering after enabling |
Three common errors
- Treating the draft sentence "has completed refurbishment and can be directly listed for resale" as already supported by the materials. The refurbishment record only states "pending resale listing review," which is a pending-verification status. The draft sentence goes beyond the source wording.
- Treating minimum relevance as a permission or entity filter. This value is a similarity filter threshold. It does not exclude unauthorized records, and retrieval itself does not constitute authorization.
- Treating an empty citation array as a workflow error. The output length may be zero, and the path still runs when the array is empty. Check the downstream design against the paper input [] and do not infer that a fabricated rule necessarily returns empty.
How to verify the setup
- Input the source text of the inspection sheet and refurbishment record from the hypothetical sample above. Compare the draft sentence "can be directly listed for resale" with "pending resale listing review." The condition is satisfied only when the draft sentence is changed to a status description consistent with the source text.
- Input the same batch number and compare whether citations returned by hybrid retrieval and full-text retrieval contain the batch number source text. When a citation is missing, record it as unsupported rather than judging the retrieval to have failed.
- Use the paper input [] to check the downstream answering stage design and observe whether the empty array is handled. This observation does not claim that a fabricated retrieval necessarily returns empty, and does not claim that testing has been performed.
Retrieval is not authorization. Forms collect values; business verification, approval, database writes and external synchronization require their stated downstream implementation. A relevance score is not a category, entity or permission filter; it does not exclude unrelated businesses or unauthorized records. Knowledge-reference limits use the documented token unit. Same-model retrieval association, empty-reference output and context limits retain their documented conditions. The optional paths listed in the overall document flow diagram do not mean that every request executes all of them: image retrieval requires corresponding image input and model capability, and reranking requires an available model enabled per settings. Knowledge bases with different vector models cannot be associated together; check identifiers, exclude those that do not match, and record actual observations rather than fabricating runtime outcomes.
