Cross-border product labels: citation tracing for after-sales questions

Review citation tracing for after-sales questions in Cross-border product labels. Check input mappings, source evidence and failure handling before use.

What the documents look like

For cross-border product compliance and labeling, the working materials are product test reports, English-language labels, material safety data sheets, and platform prohibited-item lists. These materials take shape before listing and import. Mistakes can lead to platform delisting, customs seizure, or consumer claims. Citation tracing at the after-sales stage operates on these documents themselves: one product may have a testing-laboratory report, supplier documentation, and an excerpt from a destination-country regulation database at the same time. When versions and scope of application disagree, the answer must state which citation corresponds to which material.

Updates are irregular and occur with each new listing. The same product can therefore have multiple versions of the same material in the knowledge base at once. An answer must compare the source text and the citation date range item by item. The platform prohibited-item list is one input among several, and it does not by itself establish the composition of a specific product.

Constraints at the citation tracing step

Knowledge base search can select one or more knowledge bases that use the same vector model. Knowledge bases with different vector models cannot be associated together; the identifier must be checked first and non-matching bases excluded. The search node outputs citations as an array, and the length can be zero. An empty array does not mean the workflow has errored or terminated.

The citation limit is counted in tokens, not in item count. The minimum relevance score only filters out low-relevance results; it does not perform permission or entity isolation. A relevance score is a similarity value, not a category, entity, or permission filter, and it does not exclude unrelated businesses or unauthorized records. Retrieval is not authorization.

Materials update irregularly and with each new listing, so different versions of the same product's materials may be in the knowledge base at the same time. An answer must compare the source text and the citation date range item by item. The optional paths shown in the overall retrieval flow do not all execute on every request. Image retrieval requires a corresponding image input and model capability. Reranking requires a rerank model and must be enabled in the settings. Forms collect values; business verification, approval, database writes, and external synchronization require their stated downstream implementation.

Hypothetical drill sample: a batch of children's water bottles. The supplier document states "Material: Tritan, applicable temperature -20°C to 100°C, report number LAB-2024-0311, issue date March 2024." The platform prohibited-item list excerpt states "Water bottles containing BPA material are prohibited from sale." The draft sentence to be assessed: "This water bottle is prohibited from sale by the platform because it contains BPA." Comparing the same product and the same field: the supplier document records the material as Tritan, while the prohibited-item list addresses BPA-containing material. The subject and field differ, the draft sentence is not supported, and this must be recorded as pending verification with the evidence gap preserved.

Three common errors

  1. Treating minimum relevance as a permission or entity isolation mechanism. The relevance score is a similarity value; it does not recognize business ownership, and unauthorized records may still be recalled.
  2. Reading the citation limit as an item count. The documentation counts tokens; estimating by item count will not match the actual citation length.
  3. Forcing knowledge bases with different vector models to be associated together. The documentation requires the same vector model for joint association; the identifier must be checked first and non-matching bases excluded.

How to verify the setup

  1. Input the supplier document source text and the prohibited-item list excerpt from the hypothetical sample, and compare the draft sentence "This water bottle is prohibited from sale by the platform because it contains BPA" against the subject and field of both source texts. When the draft sentence does not match the source, the answer should retain the pending-verification status and display the cited source text, without outputting a prohibition conclusion.
  2. Input an explicit paper empty result [] and compare whether the downstream answer step receives it normally. When the citation array length is zero, the chain still runs through; the answer does not break because of the empty array and does not fabricate citation content.
  3. Input two knowledge base options with different vector model identifiers and compare whether the identifiers match. When identifiers differ, joint association is not executed; record the actual observation and do not infer missed recall or redundancy as runtime results.

This page addresses only cross-border product compliance and labeling / order fulfillment and after-sales Q&A / citation tracing. At operational handover, which materials, operations, and requests are in what authorization state cannot treat retrieval or a form as authorized execution.
