What the documents look like
For general trade import declaration, the working materials are the import declaration form, commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading and contract. Data arrives from the International Trade Single Window, customs tariff schedules, freight forwarder arrival notices and foreign exchange payment documents. Compared with export declaration, the import stage centres on dutiable value, freight and insurance, and tax payment. The confirmed transaction term shapes how later fields are completed.
Copy drafting for goods and marketing draws the goods name, specification, quantity, origin and transaction term out of those materials and turns them into external-facing text. These elements are spread across the invoice, packing list and bill of lading, and the same goods may be written differently from one document to the next, so each item needs to be traced back to its source. Errors carry supplementary tax and late declaration fees, port storage or administrative penalty. Promotional sentences therefore stay within what the materials state.
Constraints at the multi-turn prompts step
Multi-turn dialogue requires the prompt to state the material scope, the answering task and how to handle missing evidence, so the model leaves gaps open instead of filling in business facts. On a continued session, the history actually carried in must be checked, and the input difference between a new session and a continued session kept distinct. In a knowledge-base continuous conversation, coreference resolution and question expansion for short questions need checking, without assuming every short question qualifies. The model's supported context length and reply cap need to match the real material size, and long documents combined with follow-up questions should be tested separately. Reply format follows how the downstream step consumes the output; choosing json_schema requires filling in the matching format requirement and verifying the returned structure.
Hypothetical paper exercise
Material text one (commercial invoice extract): "Goods name: stainless steel kitchenware set; specification: three-piece set; quantity: 500 sets; origin: Germany; transaction term: CIF."
Material text two (packing list extract): "Packages: 50 cartons; 10 sets per carton; gross weight: 620 kg."
Material text three (contract extract): "The seller shall ship within 30 days of receiving the letter of credit; the actual sailing schedule is subject to the bill of lading."
Draft sentence to be judged: "This batch of stainless steel kitchenware sets is original German import, available from stock, and can be dispatched the same day."
Comparison object: "original German import" in the draft corresponds to "origin: Germany" in material text one. "Available from stock" and "can be dispatched the same day" appear in none of material texts one, two or three; material text three states only that the shipping deadline follows the bill of lading, and says nothing about stock status or dispatch timing. Judgement: the origin description is supported by the material, the stock and same-day dispatch descriptions are not supported and remain pending verification.
Configuration and implementation checks
| Configuration item | Hypothetical starting value for this exercise | Reason and comparison method |
|---|---|---|
| AI model | A model whose supported context length fits the material | Compare the combined length of material texts plus follow-up questions against the model's maximum context; if it exceeds, change model or reduce material |
| Memory turns | Hypothetical starting value of a small number of history turns | Customer service and knowledge-base question answering typically keep few history turns; compare whether the history carried into a continued session includes unrelated turns |
| Reply cap | Hypothetical starting value long enough for a complete copy paragraph | Compare whether generated content is truncated early; raise when truncated, lower when redundant |
| Temperature | Hypothetical starting value on the low side | Copy drafting needs stable expression; compare whether repeated generation from the same material produces promotional sentences absent from the material |
| Reply format | Default for ordinary copy drafting | Switch to json_schema only when a downstream step needs to read a fixed structure, and fill in the matching format requirement |
| Multimodal recognition | Decided by material form | Not needed when materials are text documents; when materials include image documents, confirm the model supports image recognition |
Three common errors
- Writing "available from stock" or "same-day dispatch" into the copy as verified fact when the materials do not state it. Check by entering the draft sentence together with material texts one, two and three, comparing each statement in the draft against a corresponding field in the materials; material text three states only that the shipping deadline follows the bill of lading and records no stock status, so that statement is marked pending verification.
- Treating a retrieval library's relevance score as a permission or entity filter. Check by entering one retrieval request and comparing the returned
dataset_idagainst the dataset identifiers the current party may access; a relevance score does not perform the function of excluding unrelated business or unauthorized records, and retrieval itself does not constitute authorization. - Associating libraries built on different embedding models directly. Check by first confirming the embedding model identifier used by each library, excluding libraries whose identifiers differ, and recording the actual observation; do not run a cross-model retrieval to compare missed recall.
How to verify the setup
- Enter material texts one, two and three from the hypothetical exercise together with the draft sentence, and compare each statement in the draft against the material fields. The condition is met when the origin description matches material text one, the stock and dispatch-timing descriptions are marked as unsupported by the material, and no supplementary fact outside the material appears in the output.
- Enter one continued-session request and compare the history actually carried in against the expected turn count. The condition is met when the carried history does not exceed the set value and contains no early conversation content unrelated to the current drafting task.
- Enter the hypothetical paper empty result
[]and compare how the downstream design handles an empty result. The condition is met when the downstream explicitly records the empty result and keeps the gap open, without interpreting the empty result as the material not existing or the business being denied.
