What the documents look like
Certificates of origin serve import-country tariff and customs clearance purposes, and they are not necessarily bound by letter of credit terms. That difference shapes the copy drafting task directly. Statements about origin composition, production steps and price structure in product or marketing copy must be traceable to enterprise production records, commercial invoices, packing lists and customer clearance requirements. The documents handled in daily work include certificate of origin applications, commercial invoices, packing lists and production cost materials. These records appear per shipment or in batches.
The citation tracing step is where drafting discipline matters most. Once a promotional sentence states an origin description, it must point back to a specific material, and that material carries its own version and validity scope. A sentence that reads fluently can still sit outside what the underlying records support. The drafting task here is narrow: check whether a proposed sentence is supported by the cited source text, and record what remains unsupported when the source is silent or only partially relevant.
Constraints at the citation tracing step
The knowledge base search node selects one or more knowledge bases that share the same vector model as the retrieval scope, and it outputs a citation content array whose length may be zero. An empty array still passes through the output path. Whether a retrieval result is adopted by the answering step requires comparing the answer against the cited source text item by item. Similarity and minimum relevance affect ordering and filtering; they do not carry permission or entity isolation functions. The same-vector-model requirement applies to knowledge base association, and it does not extend to business registration websites or other external systems. Hybrid retrieval fuses multiple result paths through RRF, which is a processing behavior rather than a separate switch that can be turned on.
Hypothetical paper exercise sample: an enterprise retains an excerpt of a production process description whose original text reads, "This batch of goods completed weaving and dyeing processes within the territory; the fabric was procured from overseas; the finished products completed packaging in March 2025." A separate excerpt of a commercial invoice reads, "Product name: cotton knitted shirt; quantity: 1200 pieces; invoice date: March 18, 2025." The sentence to be assessed is drafted as, "The fabric and finished garment of this product are both produced within the territory, meeting origin qualification." When checking this sentence, compare the process description's "the fabric was procured from overseas" against the drafted sentence's "the fabric is produced within the territory." These are mutually exclusive values on the same field, and the drafted sentence is not supported by the material.
Configuration and implementation checks
| Configuration or check item | Purpose on this page | Basis and boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Associated knowledge base | Select the knowledge base holding the process description, invoice and packing list | Only knowledge bases with the same vector model may be associated; verify identifiers first and exclude those that do not match |
| Search mode | Choose semantic, full-text or hybrid retrieval according to the copy check | Hybrid retrieval fuses results through RRF; treat it as a process, not a switch |
| Citation limit | Control the number of tokens cited per search | The document measures in tokens and does not use top k; for this exercise, a hypothetical starting point may cover one process description and one invoice, because that combination is enough to support one origin statement, and it can be compared with a smaller value covering only the invoice |
| Minimum relevance | Filter low-relevance results | Effective only in semantic retrieval or with result reranking; it does not perform entity or permission filtering |
| Citation content output | Carry the citation array, whose length may be zero | An empty array does not mean the workflow reports an error and terminates |
| Material validity check | Compare the current version against a historical version of the process description | Whether a citation is adopted still requires review against the valid version |
Three common errors
- Treating minimum relevance as a permission or entity filter. Input: a process description from an unauthorized enterprise and an origin copy question. Compare whether that document falls within the associated knowledge base scope. Observable result: changing the filter threshold does not change the document's retrievable scope.
- Describing the RRF fusion in hybrid retrieval as a switch that can be turned on. Input: the semantic and full-text result paths from the same retrieval. Compare whether such a switch exists in the node parameters. Observable result: no corresponding item appears in the parameter list.
- Judging an empty citation array as a failure. Input: a paper-constructed output
[]. Compare whether the downstream answering step is still triggered. Observable result: the empty array continues along the output path.
How to verify the setup
- For the hypothetical sample above, input the drafted sentence "The fabric and finished garment of this product are both produced within the territory, meeting origin qualification" together with the process description original text. Compare the two same-field values "the fabric was procured from overseas" and "the fabric is produced within the territory." A mutually exclusive pair of values indicates the drafted sentence is not supported.
- For the commercial invoice excerpt, input the quantity and date from the drafted sentence and compare them against the invoice original text "quantity: 1200 pieces; invoice date: March 18, 2025." A match on quantity and date only means those fields are supported; it does not mean origin qualification is established.
- Input the paper output
[]and compare whether the downstream answering step still executes. If it still executes, the empty-result handoff design holds. If it does not execute, record that observation without inferring a specific error cause.
This page addresses only certificates of origin application, product and marketing copy drafting, and citation tracing. Whether a specific promotional sentence is supported by materials cannot be converted into an enterprise identity certification tutorial.
