What the documents look like
Promotion enrollment and price management for platform e-commerce stores relies on four working documents: the campaign enrollment form, the promotional price approval sheet, the inventory lock sheet, and the campaign review sheet. These materials record prices, inventory quantities, and campaign timing. Promotional wording review belongs to a different task category and does not describe this one.
The materials update weekly and per campaign. A single enrollment form may correspond to enrollment requirements across more than one platform, so the same campaign name can appear with different price and inventory figures depending on the platform scope recorded in that form.
The key fields for copy drafting include: campaign name and enrollment entity, the calculation basis for the promotional price and the lowest final price, locked inventory quantity and time window, and approval status. Drafting copy requires extracting citable price statements, inventory statements, and campaign timing statements from these materials, while controlling context and token usage so that unrelated material does not enter the generation request.
The most time-consuming steps in this category are calculating the lowest final price, locking campaign inventory, and synchronizing prices across platforms. Copy drafting sits downstream of those steps: the draft can only cite figures that the enrollment form and approval sheet already state.
Constraints at the context limits step
When drafting copy, the model request context contains campaign material fragments, the drafting instruction, and historical input. The context window is determined by model capability. The reply limit constrains output length only, and does not serve as the full context window. The knowledge base reference limit is controlled by tokens; an overly long single material fragment may be truncated.
Historical input affects retrieval results for the same question. Under empty-history and with-history conditions, the input content differs, and the retrieved material fragments may also differ. Structured handoff requires verifying that fields are complete and parsing succeeds, not merely checking text length.
Hypothetical paper exercise sample. Material source text: "Campaign name: Spring Refresh; Enrollment entity: a store; Promotional price: 99 yuan; Inventory lock: 500 units; Campaign window: March 1 to March 7; Approval status is pending approval." Draft sentence: "Spring Refresh campaign promotional price 99 yuan, inventory 500 units, opens March 1." To be determined: whether the draft sentence matches the material source text, and whether the approval status supports external publication.
In this sample, the material records a pending approval status. A draft sentence prepared for external publication lacks approval support at this stage. The determination compares the draft sentence against the approval status field and observes whether the draft presents itself as publishable.
Configuration and implementation checks
The table below ties each row to the hypothetical sample above. Values labelled as a hypothetical starting point are chosen for this paper exercise only and are not official defaults.
| Configuration item | Hypothetical starting point for this exercise | Reason and comparison method |
|---|---|---|
| AI model | Select a model documented as supporting a long context | Compare against the total length of the enrollment form and approval sheet fragments to confirm the context window covers them |
| Reply limit | Enable and set to a length that can express the supporting basis | Compare against the draft sentence length to confirm the basis and handling action are not truncated |
| Knowledge base reference limit | Set by token to cover a single material fragment | Compare against the single-fragment length to confirm the material is not truncated |
| Historical input | Run once with empty history and once with history | Compare the input content for the same question under both conditions |
| Reply format | Select json_schema when fixed fields are required | Check that fields are complete and parsing succeeds, not only text length |
The reply limit and the model context window are separate settings. The reference limit uses the documented token unit. A relevance score is not a category, entity, or permission filter, and retrieval does not perform authorization. Same-model retrieval association applies only to libraries sharing that vector model; it does not extend to external systems.
Three common errors
- Treating the reply limit as the full context window. When the total input material length exceeds the model context window, material is truncated and the draft sentence may lack its supporting basis. The check compares total material length against the model context window and observes whether the material enters the request in full.
- Failing to distinguish empty history from with-history conditions. The same question produces different input under the two conditions, and retrieved material fragments may differ. The check records the input content under each condition separately and compares the difference.
- Generating externally publishable copy while approval status is pending approval. The material records approval status as pending approval. A draft sentence prepared for external publication lacks approval support. The check compares the draft sentence against the approval status and observes whether wording presents the copy as already approved for release.
How to verify the setup
- Enter the hypothetical sample material source text and the draft sentence. Compare the price, inventory, and time window in the draft sentence against the material source text. If the draft sentence contains a statement the material does not provide, the condition is not met.
- Enter the same question under empty-history and with-history conditions. Compare the two requests' input content and retrieval results. If the two inputs differ and the difference is not recorded, the condition is not met.
- Enter the total material length and the model context window. Compare whether the material enters the request in full. If the material is truncated and the draft sentence lacks its basis, the condition is not met.
These checks describe what to compare and what to observe. They do not assert that any test, deployment, approval, or publication has occurred. Where the official documents do not state an error code or an observed outcome, the result of a mismatch remains unknown and must be recorded as such.
