What the documents look like
Channel diversion review deals with regional and price order. It examines where goods flow and where prices sit outside the intended arrangement. It does not calculate rebate amounts, which is a separate commercial process. The materials that feed this work arrive from anti-counterfeit code systems, e-commerce platform price pages, distributor shipment records, and market inspection visits. The documents handled day to day include diversion complaint forms, anti-counterfeit code records, penalty notices, and investigation photographs.
For copy drafting, the practical consequence is that every promotional or product sentence must be traceable to a specific source material. A claim about authorized sales territory, batch origin, or shipment period is only usable when the underlying record states that fact. The drafting step sits downstream of retrieval: the knowledge base search node returns reference content, and the answer stage produces text that must be checked line by line against the returned originals.
The data arrives weekly and irregularly. That cadence affects how current a source version is, but it does not by itself change the retrieval mechanics described here.
Constraints at the citation tracing step
The knowledge base search node outputs reference content as an array, and the length may be zero. When the array is empty, the downstream chain still runs. An empty result is therefore a state to handle, not a signal that the workflow has failed.
Before retrieval, confirm which knowledge bases are selected and which document version is in scope. Only knowledge bases sharing the same vector model can be associated together. This is a selection constraint on the retrieval scope. It does not extend to any external registry or business system, and it does not make retrieval an authorization check.
After retrieval, the returned references pass to the answer stage. The drafting check compares the proposed sentence against the reference original. A relevance score orders candidates; it does not filter by business entity, region, or permission. Retrieval is not authorization, and a similarity setting does not exclude unrelated business records or unauthorized material.
Hypothetical paper exercise sample: Material original one reads, "Anti-counterfeit code segment for a given batch, 2024-03-01 to 2024-03-31, dispatched from the East China warehouse." Material original two reads, "The authorized sales region for this batch is Jiangsu Province." The proposed draft sentence reads, "This batch is authorized for sale within Jiangsu Province." The comparison checks subject, object, period, and field value against the materials. The materials state the authorized region only. They do not state the sales status of any other province. Other regions remain unsupported, and the evidence gap is preserved.
Configuration and implementation checks
| Configuration item | Hypothetical starting point for this exercise | How to check |
|---|---|---|
| Associated knowledge bases | Diversion review library selected | Compare vector model identifiers; exclude bases with a different vector model |
| Search mode | Full-text search | Keyword matching is preferred for code segments and identifiers |
| Reference limit | 2000 tokens as a hypothetical starting point for this exercise | Compare against candidate chunk lengths and observe truncation |
| Minimum relevance | 0.3 as a hypothetical starting point for this exercise | Compare against rerank scores and observe whether low-scoring content is filtered |
| Reference output | Array, length may be zero | Use a paper input of [] to check downstream handling design |
| Source version check | Current version and historical version documents | Compare source versions; adoption still requires review against the effective version |
The reference limit uses tokens as its documented unit. The minimum relevance value applies only under semantic search or when result reranking is used. It is a filter threshold, not a final ordering rule. When question optimization, hybrid search, image retrieval, or reranking is active, results may be merged from multiple recall paths and will not necessarily follow a single vector similarity order.
RRF is a fusion step that combines results from multiple recall channels. It is not a switch to enable. Image retrieval requires an image input and the corresponding model capability. Reranking requires a rerank model and must be enabled by its setting. The optional paths in the overall retrieval flow are not all executed on every request.
Three common errors
- Treating a similarity score as a permission or entity filter. A relevance score orders candidates and does not exclude unrelated business records. Retrieval does not constitute authorization. The check is to compare the score against the filter threshold and observe which candidates remain, while confirming that no entity or region exclusion is being inferred from the score itself.
- Treating an empty reference array as a workflow termination. The output length may be zero, and the downstream chain still runs. The check is to supply a paper input of [] and observe whether the downstream node continues to execute. A downstream design that accepts empty references meets the expectation.
- Writing an unsupported region status as a negative conclusion. When a material states only the authorized region, other regions are unsupported rather than contradicted. The check is to compare the draft sentence against the material field by field. If the material does not carry a value for another region, that region remains an evidence gap, not a conflict.
How to verify the setup
- Input the hypothetical sample materials and the proposed draft sentence. Compare subject, object, period, and field value. When the draft sentence shares the same subject and period as the material and the field values agree, the sentence is supported. When a field is absent from the material, record the gap rather than treating it as a denial.
- Input a paper array of [] and observe whether the downstream node continues to execute. When the downstream design accepts empty references, the expected behavior is met. This exercise does not assert that any particular query returns an empty array.
- Input two knowledge base identifiers with different vector models and check whether they can be associated. Identifiers that do not match are excluded and recorded. Cross-model retrieval comparison is not performed. This check observes the selection constraint only; it does not predict recall or redundancy outcomes for associated bases.
Across all three checks, the comparison is against the supplied materials and the documented node behavior. No test, deployment, approval, or business action is claimed to have occurred.
