What the documents look like
Warehouse picking, checking and packing handles order outbound, not supplier arrivals. The main data sources are the WMS, the order system, the electronic waybill platform and weighing equipment. The documents handled day to day are wave picking lists, checking records, waybills and packaging consumable sheets. Contract and transaction material comparison requires placing the subject, object, quantity and status from the order, the waybill and the checking record onto the same field for cross-checking. Tool calls and plugins act at this step by letting the model decide, from the tool description and parameter descriptions, whether to call a system module or plugin, so that the fields needed for comparison are retrieved or passed to a downstream node.
Three industry facts shape this task. First, the documents are per-order and hourly, so a comparison that depends on a later document cannot treat an earlier document as final. Second, the parties involved are pickers, checkers and packing supervisors, so a checking record that carries no checker signature is not a completed check. Third, the consequence of error is wrong or missing shipment, damaged parcels and after-sales compensation, so a draft sentence that moves an order into packing on incomplete evidence carries real operational weight.
Constraints at the tool calls step
A tool description tells the model what the tool is for, and needs to state the input conditions and the situations in which the tool should not be called. Tool parameters divide into fixed parameters for system modules and configurable parameters for plugins; a parameter description is not an execution assurance. When a suitable required parameter is absent, the model may not call the tool; a prompt can guide the user to supply the parameter, and the actual request is then checked. In advanced orchestration, available tools are connected to the tool call module, and the guidance is to begin with a small number of tools and tune before adding more. The tool call termination node ends the current call, does not call other tools, and does not call the AI to summarize the tool result. Retrieval and similarity scores carry no permission or entity-isolation duty, and a retrieval result is not an authorization basis.
Hypothetical paper exercise: a warehouse operations group records the following on a paper handover sheet. Wave picking list W-2024-0517 states that order O-8841 should ship item A, quantity 12 pieces. Checking record R-2210 records actual shipment of item A, quantity 12 pieces. Electronic waybill S-7712 states the recipient subject as "Example Trading (hypothetical)". Packaging consumable sheet P-3308 records one carton of specification B. A draft sentence reads: "Order O-8841, checking record R-2210 and waybill S-7712 agree on the item A quantity and recipient subject fields, and packing may proceed." The sentence does not state the checker signature status or the waybill generation time; both evidence gaps remain open.
Configuration and implementation checks
| Configuration item | Hypothetical trial starting point for this exercise | Reason for the choice and comparison method |
|---|---|---|
| Tool description | State "read fields from wave picking list, checking record, waybill, consumable sheet" | Compare against the four sample documents field by field; check whether the description covers subject, object, quantity and status |
| Tool parameters | Plugin parameters set to order number, checking record number, waybill number, consumable sheet number | Compare against O-8841, R-2210, S-7712 and P-3308 in the sample; check which are required |
| Required parameters | Order number and checking record number set as required | When absent the model may not call the tool; check whether an interaction supplies them |
| Tool connection | Connect only the read tools for the four documents on this page | Control the count during tuning; check whether tool input is separated after connection |
| Tool call termination | Placed after the consumable sheet read | Check whether other tools and AI summarization are not called after termination |
| Manual cross-check | Compare subject, object, quantity and status on the same field | Compare word by word against the sample text and record fields not stated |
Three common errors
- Treating a parameter description as an execution assurance. In the sample, the plugin parameters list the order number, yet nothing states that the model will call the plugin. Check the input parameter description text, compare whether wording such as "will call" appears, and the observable result should be a description of parameter meaning only.
- Using a similarity score in place of a permission judgment. In the sample, retrieval returns waybill S-7712; a high score does not indicate that the waybill falls within the current operations group's permitted scope. Check whether the score is used as an authorization condition, and compare whether the authorization field is checked separately.
- Writing a pending-review status as approved. In the sample, checking record R-2210 does not state a checker signature, yet the draft sentence says packing may proceed. Check whether the draft sentence turns an unstated status into a completed one, and compare the field differences between the source text and the draft.
How to verify the setup
- Input the four source documents from the sample and the draft sentence. Compare "quantities agree" in the draft sentence against the item A quantity of 12 pieces in W-2024-0517 and R-2210. The condition is met when the draft sentence states only that the two records share the same quantity and does not extend to the waybill quantity or to authorization status.
- Input waybill S-7712 from the sample and the draft sentence. Compare whether the recipient subject field "Example Trading (hypothetical)" appears in the waybill source text. The condition is met when the draft sentence cites that subject name and adds no unstated cooperation or signature status.
- Input consumable sheet P-3308 from the sample and the draft sentence. Compare whether the draft sentence declares that packing may proceed. The condition is met when the draft sentence clearly marks the checker signature and the waybill generation time as not stated, keeps the evidence gaps open, and does not write a pending review as approved.
Paper empty-result check: use the explicit input [] to check the downstream node design, confirming that an empty result triggers no packing or authorization action and only records the absence. Libraries on different vector models cannot be associated together; check the identifier first and exclude those that do not match, rather than running a cross-model retrieval to compare missed recall.
This page addresses only warehouse picking, checking and packing / contract and transaction material comparison / tool calls and plugins. Which materials, operations and requests sit at which authorization status during an operations handover cannot be treated as authorized execution on the strength of retrieval or a form.
