Retail packaging reporting: citation tracing for document comparison

Review citation tracing for document comparison in Retail packaging reporting. Check input mappings, source evidence and failure handling before use.

What the documents look like

This category covers disposable plastic bags and single-use items reporting for supermarkets and convenience stores. The work sits with environmental regulation and one-off plastics reporting, not with membership marketing or checkout promotions. The documents handled day to day are plastic bag procurement ledgers, sales vouchers, semi-annual reports and self-discipline commitments. Data arrives from the Ministry of Commerce reporting system, POS plastic bag sales, procurement systems and store ledgers. The task on this page is comparison of contracts against transaction materials: procurement contracts, sales vouchers and report text are checked line by line for matching entity, quantity and period, and every citation keeps its source location. The commercial consequence of a weak comparison is a rectification notice within a deadline, a fine between ten thousand and one hundred thousand yuan, or a regulatory interview. That consequence explains why the citation chain matters more here than writing speed: a report sentence that looks complete but traces back to a single voucher can misstate the period it claims to cover.

Constraints at the citation tracing step

The knowledge base search node returns an array of citations, and that array may have length zero. An empty array still passes along the output path; it does not mean the workflow has errored or terminated. The citation cap is controlled in tokens, not by a top-k item count. The minimum relevance value is a filter threshold and takes effect only under semantic retrieval or when result reranking is used; it is not a final sorting rule, and it does not act as a category, entity or permission filter. Knowledge bases can be linked together only when they share the same vector model, so identifiers are checked first and non-matching bases are excluded. Retrieval output is not authorization: whether a contract has taken effect, and whether materials have been submitted, must be judged from the materials themselves. A pending request is not approval, an offered option is not execution, and an unsigned termination is not a completed termination.

Hypothetical paper exercise sample. A supermarket head office compliance role intends to check a plastic bag procurement contract against the corresponding sales voucher. The contract text reads: "Party A purchases handled plastic bags from Party B between 1 March 2025 and 31 August 2025; settlement follows the quantity actually accepted by stores." The sales voucher reads: "April 2025, one store accepted 12,000 handled plastic bags." The semi-annual report draft reads: "Cumulative procurement of handled plastic bags in the first half of 2025 was 12,000." The sentence under review is: "The procurement quantity within the contract period has been fully evidenced by the sales voucher." That sentence treats a single month and a single store as proof of the whole contract period and is not supported by the supplied materials.

Configuration and implementation checks

Configuration itemHypothetical starting point for this exerciseReason and comparison method
Linked knowledge basesOnly the procurement contract base and the sales voucher base that share one vector modelDocuments require the same vector model before bases can be linked together; check identifiers first and exclude bases that do not match
Search modeHybrid retrievalContract numbers and dates need full-text hits; clause meaning needs vector recall
Citation capHypothetical starting point of 3000 tokensIntended to hold contract and voucher passages; compare citation completeness against a result containing only one voucher
Minimum relevanceHypothetical starting point of 0.4Intended to filter low-relevance passages; compare returned entries against 0.2 and 0.6
Result rerankingEnabledSecond-pass ordering when candidates are numerous; compare citation order before and after enabling
Question optimizationNot enabled for nowThe current question already names the subject and period; compare retrieval latency against an enabled run

These values are paper-exercise starting points only and are not official defaults. The database internals described in the platform documentation, such as the vector index and the separate storage of vector data and source data, are not configuration items for this page.

Three common errors

  1. Treating a single month and single store sales voucher as full evidence of procurement across the contract period. The check takes the contract text, the voucher text and the draft sentence as inputs, compares whether the voucher period and store scope match the contract period and scope, and is satisfied only when the voucher covers the whole contract period.
  2. Treating a retrieved contract passage as proof that the contract has taken effect. The check takes the contract text and the draft sentence as inputs, compares whether a signing or effectiveness record is present, and records the item as pending verification when that record is absent.
  3. Linking knowledge bases that use different vector models. The check takes the vector model identifier list for each base, compares whether the identifiers are identical, and allows only identical identifiers into the linked list; non-matching bases are excluded and recorded. No claim is made about what retrieval behavior would follow from linking them.

How to verify the setup

  1. Input the contract text, the sales voucher text and the draft sentence from the hypothetical sample above. Compare whether the draft sentence exceeds the period and store scope covered by the voucher. The condition is satisfied when the sentence is judged not supported.
  2. Input the same materials together with an empty citation array. Compare whether the downstream answer step proceeds along the empty-array output path. The condition is satisfied when the downstream step does not error and notes that no citation is present.
  3. Input the vector model identifier list for each knowledge base. Compare whether the identifiers are the same. The condition is satisfied when only bases with identical identifiers enter the linked list.

All three verification steps are paper checks and have not been executed. Where a material does not state a signing date, an effectiveness condition or a submission record, that gap stays open and is recorded as pending verification rather than resolved in either direction.
