MCN operations: retrieval for procurement

Review retrieval for procurement in MCN operations. Check document scope, input handoffs and failure paths; retain test evidence tied to original records.

What the documents look like

An MCN manages long-term account compliance for many creators across multiple brand engagements, so procurement and supplier material sits alongside creator contracts, training records, violation handling forms and account schedules. The daily and weekly update rhythm of these records means a retrieval result reflects only the state captured at ingestion time.

Three features of this category shape retrieval work. First, the material is heterogeneous: supplier quotations and supply records share a knowledge base with creator contracts and account schedules, and query terms drift between creator, account, procurement and supplier vocabulary. Second, mistakes carry consequences that include account bans, terminated cooperation and institutional compensation, so a retrieval hit must never be read as an authorization decision. Third, a single creator engagement involves several distinct facts that are easy to conflate: a contract being under review, a cooperation being reached, and a contract taking effect are three separate matters, and a quotation validity period is not a supply period.

Constraints at the retrieval step

The knowledge base search node can associate one or more knowledge bases that use the same vector model. Knowledge bases built on different vector models cannot be associated together. Verify the model identifier first and exclude any knowledge base that does not match; do not run a cross-model search to compare missed recalls.

Cited content is output as an array whose length can be zero. When nothing is found, the output path still completes. The minimum relevance value takes effect only under semantic retrieval or when result reranking is used. It is a filter threshold, not a final ordering rule. After question optimization, hybrid retrieval, image retrieval or result reranking are enabled, final results may come from multiple recall paths merged together and need not follow a single vector similarity ordering. Semantic recall and relevance scores do not perform permission or entity isolation, and a retrieval result does not constitute authorization.

RRF is the fusion process applied to hybrid results, not an on/off switch. Image retrieval requires image input and matching model capability. Reranking requires a rerank model enabled according to configuration. The optional paths shown in the overall retrieval diagram do not all execute on every request.

Hypothetical paper exercise sample. An MCN operations staff member is organizing "creator A account schedule and supplier supply" material. The source text for comparison consists of three sentences. Sentence one: "The live-streaming account schedule for creator A shows three sessions scheduled from 10 March 2026 to 20 March 2026, and the account is in normal cooperation status." Sentence two: "Supplier B submitted a quotation on 1 March 2026; the quotation is valid until 31 March 2026, and the supply period is not stated." Sentence three: "The signed contract for creator A is under review, and the signing date field is empty." The draft sentence to be assessed is: "Creator A's account schedule is confirmed, supplier B's supply period covers 10 March to 20 March, the contract has taken effect, and procurement can be placed directly." The request concerns retrieval and handover of procurement and supplier material.

Configuration and implementation checks

The table below lists officially described settings or implementation checks relevant to this feature and the primary task, organized around the sample above. Values are hypothetical starting points for this exercise, used for comparison with another value, and are not official defaults.

Configuration itemHypothetical starting point for this exerciseReason and comparison method
Associated knowledge basesOne creator contract base, one account schedule base, one supplier material baseThe three bases must use the same vector model; verify identifiers before association and compare against a cross-model base to confirm exclusion
Search modeHybrid retrievalThe sample contains identifiers and proper nouns such as creator A, supplier B and March 2026; compare keyword hits against pure semantic retrieval
Citation limit800 tokensThe three sample sentences differ in length; compare against 400 tokens and observe whether the contract status sentence is truncated
Minimum relevance0.35The sample contains weak signals such as under review and not stated; compare against 0.5 and observe whether unrelated procurement fragments are filtered out
Question optimizationEnabledThe sample question contains extended wording such as can be placed directly; compare against disabled and check whether the subject is altered
Result rerankingEnabled with the rerank model verifiedHybrid retrieval produces many candidates; compare against no reranking and observe the ranking position of the under review sentence

Three common errors

  1. Treating a retrieval result as authorization. In the sample, "the signed contract for creator A is under review, and the signing date field is empty." Under review does not demonstrate the absence of operating permission, and it does not equal signing, a reached cooperation or an effective contract. The erroneous approach is to conclude from a retrieval hit that "the contract has taken effect." Check: input the sample's second and third sentences, compare whether under review and has taken effect refer to the same subject, the same period and the same field, and observe whether an explicit mutually exclusive value exists; where the field is not stated, record it as pending verification.
  2. Treating quotation validity as the supply period. In the sample, "the quotation is valid until 31 March 2026, and the supply period is not stated." Quotation validity does not indicate a supply period. The erroneous approach is to conclude from the draft sentence that the supply period covers 10 March to 20 March and that procurement can be placed. Check: input supplier B's quotation source text, compare the quotation validity field against the supply period field, and observe whether the supply period field is empty; if empty, the claim is unsupported.
  3. Associating knowledge bases that use different vector models. The erroneous approach is to associate the creator contract base directly with the supplier material base and then compare missed recalls. Check: verify the vector model identifiers of both bases first, exclude any that do not match, and record the actual observation; do not run a cross-model search to compare results.

How to verify the setup

  1. For the draft phrase "creator A's account schedule is confirmed," input the sample's first sentence and compare normal cooperation status against confirmed, checking whether the same field is involved; observe whether the schedule states a confirmation action. Where it is not stated, the claim is unsupported and the evidence gap remains.
  2. For the draft phrase "the contract has taken effect," input the sample's third sentence and compare under review against has taken effect; observe whether the signing date field is empty. When empty, record it as pending verification, and do not supply an authorization or effectiveness clause.
  3. For the draft phrase "procurement can be placed directly," input the sample's second sentence and compare supply period not stated against covers 10 March to 20 March; observe the content of the supply period field. Where it is not stated, the request remains pending verification, and neither retrieval nor a form constitutes authorized execution. An empty result can be checked against the downstream design using the paper input [], without asserting that a fabricated rule search necessarily returns [].
