Omnichannel stock transfers: workflow routing for procurement

Review workflow routing for procurement in Omnichannel stock transfers. Check document scope, failure paths and source evidence through controlled tests.

What the documents look like

Brand omnichannel stock transfer covers the movement of goods between stores and warehouses. It does not cover marketing outreach, which belongs to a different category of work. The data for this task comes from ERP inventory, store POS, e-commerce orders and WMS. The documents handled day to day are transfer requests, inventory snapshots, store shortage lists and transfer logistics notes. This page addresses one task inside that setting: inventory procurement and supplier records, with workflow routing as the feature under examination. Document updates are described as daily or weekly. That frequency does not by itself justify batch synchronization, full synchronization, real-time triggers or transaction-triggered execution, and this page does not derive any of those mechanisms from it.

Two interaction nodes are relevant here. The form input node triggers an interaction state, records the workflow state, and after the user completes the required fields and submits, passes the collected information to downstream nodes. The user selection node also enters an interaction state, records the workflow state, and after the user makes a choice, executes the corresponding "yes" branch. Both nodes are user interaction nodes, can be added repeatedly, and trigger execution. Collected values must be explicitly passed to downstream retrieval, judgment or interface nodes. Order writes, document backfill and external status synchronization require a separate business interface or a later process. Retrieval and forms do not constitute authorized execution.

Constraints at the workflow routing step

The routing step inherits several limits. A form input node collects required fields and hands them forward; it does not write orders, backfill documents or synchronize external status. A user selection node branches on the user's choice; the branch connection must be verified one by one rather than assumed. The interaction state is recorded as node behavior, and no separate global state-recording switch is documented, so none is configured here. Whether the workflow continues downward after submission is something to check against the node's documented behavior, not to infer from a setting.

A relevance score does not act as a category filter, an entity filter or a permission filter. Similarity settings do not exclude unrelated businesses or unauthorized records. Retrieval is not authorization. If a downstream node relies on retrieval results to judge available transferable stock, permission and business rules must be checked separately. Empty reference output and context limits retain their documented conditions. Where a library uses the same vector model, retrieval association follows that documented condition; this does not extend to requiring the same model across unrelated external systems.

Hypothetical paper exercise sample, constructed for this page only: a brand supply chain specialist submits a transfer request. The source text reads: "Request to transfer 200 units of SKU-A from the East China warehouse to the Shanghai store, to replenish SKU-A listed on the store shortage list. Request date 10 March 2025. Approval status is pending review." A proposed draft sentence reads: "This transfer request has been approved and can proceed to outbound picking." The pending request to be judged reads: "Please generate the transfer logistics note directly from the above request."

Configuration and implementation checks

Configuration itemRelevant setting or check on this pageRelation to the sample
Form input nodeEnters interaction state on trigger, collects required fields, passes them downstream after submissionCollects transfer request fields such as SKU, quantity, source warehouse, destination store
User selection nodeExecutes the "yes" branch after the user chooses; verify branch connections one by oneUsed for approval status confirmation; pending review and approved are different values
Interaction state checkRecording state is node behavior; no separate global state-recording switch is setCheck whether the workflow continues downward after submission
Output handoff checkPass collected information explicitly to downstream retrieval, judgment or interface nodesCheck whether request fields reach downstream nodes
External action separationOrder writes, document backfill and external status synchronization require a separate business interface or later processGenerating a transfer logistics note needs separate system implementation
Numeric starting valueHypothetical trial starting value of 200 units, chosen because the sample request states 200 units, compared against available quantity in the inventory snapshotThis is a hypothetical starting point for this page only, not an official default

Three common errors

  1. Treating a pending review status as approved. The sample source text states "Approval status is pending review," while the proposed draft sentence states "has been approved." Same subject, same period, same field, mutually exclusive values. Pending review does not demonstrate the absence of operating permission, and it is not approval.
  2. Treating form collection as authorized execution. The form input node collects information and passes it to downstream nodes; it does not perform order writes or external synchronization. The request to generate a transfer logistics note directly lacks a downstream interface implementation and remains unsupported.
  3. Treating retrieval results as permission filtering. A relevance score does not carry entity or permission isolation. Retrieval is not authorization. If a downstream node depends on retrieval results to judge transferable stock, permission and business rules require separate verification.

How to verify the setup

  1. Against the sample source text and the proposed draft sentence, take the input "Approval status is pending review" and "has been approved," compare the values of the same field, and where the two values are mutually exclusive, judge the draft sentence contradictory to the source. Expected result: contradiction. No claim is made that this was actually tested.
  2. Against the pending request, take the input "Please generate the transfer logistics note directly from the above request," compare the action the request requires with the capabilities of the configured nodes, and where no order-write or external-synchronization interface is configured, judge the request unsupported. Expected result: unsupported, with the evidence gap retained.
  3. For empty-result handoff, take the paper input [] and check whether the downstream design handles an empty result. Where the downstream defines no empty-result branch, record the gap. Do not claim that a fictional rule retrieval necessarily returns []. Cross-model association is not available; check identifiers first, exclude non-matching items, and record the actual observation.
