Dealer ordering events: citation tracing for procurement

Review citation tracing for procurement in Dealer ordering events. Check document scope, failure paths and source evidence through controlled tests.

What the documents look like

Dealer ordering events serve offline dealer reservations and do not manage platform storefronts. Inventory procurement and supplier materials for this category revolve around four document families: the ordering handbook, the ordering contract, the sample list, and credit approval. Brand channel departments, regional dealers, and merchandise planning teams work from these materials together. Errors in this setting produce under-ordering, inventory-pressure disputes, and payment-collection risk. The materials update on a quarterly and annual basis.

Citation tracing requires that every quoted item can be returned to a specific version of a specific document. Authorization status and retrieval results are recorded separately. A retrieval result does not establish that the requesting party is authorized to act on the underlying document, and a form that collects a value does not perform business verification, approval, database writes, or external synchronization. Those steps need their stated downstream implementation.

Constraints at the citation tracing step

The knowledge base search node outputs citations as an array, and the length may be zero. A zero-length array still completes the output path; it does not mean the workflow has errored or terminated. After citation content passes to the answering step, each answer sentence must be checked against the cited source text. Version currency checks use the current version and historical versions of a document as test sources, and whether a citation is adopted still depends on review against the effective version.

Semantic recall and relevance scores do not perform permission or entity isolation. Before retrieval, confirm the selected knowledge bases and the material versions in scope. Only knowledge bases that share the same vector model can be associated together. The relevance score is a filtering threshold, not a category, entity, or permission filter, and it does not exclude unrelated businesses or unauthorized records.

Hypothetical paper exercise sample. Source text for comparison: Section 3.2 of a brand channel department's Autumn 2025 Ordering Handbook states, "For the styles listed in this ordering event's sample list, the dealer must submit the first order quantity within fifteen working days after the ordering contract is signed." Section 4.1 of the same handbook states, "For a dealer whose credit approval has not passed, the ordering contract does not enter the execution stage for the time being." A draft sentence to be assessed: "A dealer signing the ordering contract is deemed to have passed credit approval." This draft sentence is inconsistent with the Section 4.1 statement that a contract does not enter the execution stage when credit approval has not passed. Contract signing, credit approval passing, and contract entry into the execution stage are three distinct facts. The materials do not state that the act of signing itself contains a credit approval conclusion. The draft sentence is unsupported.

Configuration and implementation checks

Configuration itemHypothetical starting value for this exerciseReason and comparison object
Associated knowledge basesSelect the ordering handbook and credit approval knowledge bases, both sharing the same vector modelCompare against a library with a different vector model; check the identifier first and exclude non-matching ones
Search modeHybrid retrievalCompare against semantic retrieval alone; numbering and proper-noun scenarios need keyword hits
Citation limitSet to 3000 tokens for this exerciseCompare against 1500 tokens; observe whether citation content covers both handbook sections
Minimum relevanceSet to 0.35 for this exerciseCompare against 0.2; observe whether low-relevance fragments enter the citation array
Result rerankingEnabled, using the configured ReRank modelCompare against disabled; observe whether ordering is stable when candidates are numerous
Question optimizationDisabledCompare against enabled; the sample question has a complete subject, so observe the latency difference

The citation limit uses tokens as its unit, which differs from top k. Thinking budget and citation limit are separate configurations and must not be conflated. Image retrieval requires corresponding image input and model capability. Reranking requires a model and must be enabled by configuration. The optional paths shown in the overall document flow diagram do not mean every request executes all of them. RRF is a hybrid result fusion process, not a toggle switch.

Three common errors

  1. Treating contract signing as equivalent to credit approval passing. The input is the draft sentence above; the comparison object is Section 4.1 of the handbook; the observable result is that the draft sentence is inconsistent with the source wording.
  2. Treating a zero-length citation array as a workflow error. The input is the paper input []; the comparison object is the node output description; the observable result is whether the downstream design accepts the empty array and continues execution.
  3. Associating knowledge bases with different vector models and then inferring missed recall. The input is two libraries with different vector model identifiers; the comparison object is the association condition; the observable result is that non-matching libraries are excluded and the actual observation is recorded.

How to verify the setup

  1. Input the source text of Section 3.2 and Section 4.1 above, compare the draft sentence against the source wording on subject, period, and field, and the observable result is that the draft sentence is marked unsupported.
  2. Input the paper empty array [], compare whether the downstream node continues execution per the statement that citation content length may be zero, and the observable result is that the path completes without being judged an error.
  3. Input two knowledge bases with different vector model identifiers, compare the model identifiers in the association condition, and the observable result is that non-matching ones are excluded; do not run cross-model retrieval to compare missed recall.

These checks describe expected observations and do not claim that any test has been run. Where the materials do not state a system error or an automatic business action, no such behavior is asserted. Whether a citation is adopted remains subject to review against the effective version, and any evidence gap stays recorded as a gap.
