What the documents look like
In parcel label and handoff work, the decisive moment is the package leaving the warehouse. The carrier scan at that point fixes responsibility, so the records that matter are the ones created around departure rather than around packing. The main data sources are the courier system, WMS shipment records, GB/T courier service standards, and carrier bills. Day-to-day documents include electronic waybills, handoff manifests, pickup scan records, and exception item registers. Data updates per batch and daily.
For procurement and supplier material, the relevant records are purchase records and supplier correspondence tied to label consumables and handoff batches. These documents carry different types and different states, and retrieval has to keep those differences visible. A handoff manifest, a pickup scan record, and an exception register are separate documents with separate fields. A purchase request, a quotation, and a supply commitment are likewise separate records. Retrieval returns content; it does not settle which state a record is in.
Constraints at the retrieval step
The knowledge base search node can associate one or more knowledge bases that use the same vector model. Knowledge bases with different vector models cannot be associated together. Check the vector model identifier first and exclude bases that do not match. Search output is an array of quoted content, and its length can be zero. A zero-length result still lets the downstream chain run.
Semantic retrieval, full-text retrieval, and hybrid retrieval are compared against test questions. No single mode is assumed to suit all material. The citation limit is measured in tokens. Use material of clearly different lengths to test whether content stays complete. The minimum relevance value takes effect only in semantic retrieval or when result reranking is used. Question optimization performs coreference resolution and question expansion; compare the original question with the optimized question and check whether the subject was altered. RRF is the fusion step for hybrid results. Reranking requires a model and must be enabled in settings. Image retrieval requires image input and matching model capability. Retrieval and similarity scores do not perform permission or entity isolation.
Hypothetical paper exercise sample: a warehouse shipping group retains a handoff manifest whose text reads, "On 10 March 2025, the shipping group handed 120 parcels from batch B-0310 to the carrier branch; the pickup scan record shows the recipient field empty; the exception register records 3 parcels with damaged outer packaging." A draft sentence awaiting assessment reads, "This batch has completed pickup handoff, and the carrier bears full responsibility for lost parcels." The subjects are the shipping group and the carrier branch; the object is batch B-0310; the state is an empty recipient field; the effective scope is 10 March 2025.
Configuration and implementation checks
| Configuration item | Hypothetical trial starting point for this page | Reason and comparison method |
|---|---|---|
| Associated knowledge bases | Associate only the label and handoff material base | Check that the vector model identifier matches before associating; exclude bases with a different model |
| Search mode | Test semantic retrieval and full-text retrieval separately | Use the same test question to compare recall differences between the two modes |
| Citation limit | Hypothetical starting point of 2000 tokens | Test content completeness with material of different lengths and compare against a shorter limit |
| Minimum relevance | Hypothetical starting point of 0.5 | Label relevant and irrelevant samples first, then compare filtering at different thresholds |
| Question optimization | Enable and record the optimized question | Compare the original question with the optimized question and check whether the subject was altered |
| Result reranking | Enable when a model is available and record scores | Compare ordering before and after reranking and observe the 0-1 score distribution |
These values are hypothetical trial starting points for this page, not official defaults.
Three common errors
- Treating retrieval recall as business authorization. Searching for the batch B-0310 handoff manifest and finding a related document does not mean the batch has completed pickup handoff or that the carrier bears responsibility. Check whether the recipient field is filled and whether the scan record is complete.
- Treating a pending state as approved. If a purchase request in supplier material is pending review, retrieving that record does not show that operating permission was granted. Check the actual value of the review field.
- Treating a quotation validity period as a supply term. In supplier material, the quotation validity end date and the supply term are different fields. Retrieving a quotation record does not show a supply commitment. Check the explicit value of each field.
How to verify the setup
- Input the hypothetical sample text and the draft sentence, "This batch has completed pickup handoff, and the carrier bears full responsibility for lost parcels." Compare the empty recipient field in the source text against the completion wording in the draft sentence. If the retrieval result returns only the handoff manifest and returns no record of a completed recipient signature, the draft sentence is unsupported and the evidence gap must be recorded.
- Input "batch B-0310 pickup scan record" and compare whether the returned content includes the recipient field. If the recipient field in the returned record is empty, the pickup handoff completion state remains to be verified and cannot be judged complete.
- Input an explicit paper empty result [] and check the downstream design. Observe whether the chain runs when the quoted content length is zero. If the downstream node has a defined handling branch for an empty array, record that branch behavior. If no branch is configured, record it as unsupported and do not claim that a fabricated rule search necessarily returns an empty array.
