What the documents look like
Receiving and putaway is the first book-to-physical confirmation that goods have entered the warehouse. In this category the data comes from the WMS, ERP procurement, supplier delivery notes, and barcode scanning. The daily documents are the purchase arrival note, the inbound acceptance note, the putaway task, and the discrepancy report. The most time-consuming steps are checking arrived quantities, printing barcodes, and assigning storage locations. Data updates per batch and per day.
For scheduled workflows and automation, the practical role of this feature is narrower than it may appear. A scheduled trigger only starts an execution at a time; it does not by itself create a connection to a business system. External arrival and acceptance data must be read by an already configured HTTP request. This page does not infer batch synchronization, full synchronization, or real-time triggers from the stated update frequency.
Constraints at the scheduled workflows step
A timed trigger is responsible only for initiating execution on schedule. Methods, headers, request bodies, and variable inputs must be checked against the external interface document. Deduplication, idempotency, and business writes require explicit design in the interface or in a downstream flow, and cannot be claimed as automatic. Execution records must be checked against the trigger time, the actual input, the returned result, and the business status. The existence of a task does not equal successful execution. Values collected by retrieval or by a form do not constitute authorization; business verification, approval, database writes, and external synchronization each need their own downstream implementation.
Hypothetical drill sample: an e-commerce warehouse receiving team receives a supplier delivery note on 10 March 2025. The source text reads: "Purchase arrival note PO-20250310-07, supplier A, item A barcode 6900000000012, expected 200 pieces; inbound acceptance note YS-20250310-07 records 180 pieces received, discrepancy 20 pieces, status pending review." On the same day the WMS generates putaway task SJ-20250310-07, assigns location B-01-02, status pending execution. Draft sentence to be judged: "The discrepancy report is confirmed, the 20-piece shortfall will be replenished by the supplier, and the putaway task can be completed automatically." That sentence involves two business actions, replenishment and automatic completion, and the sample states no authorization or effective condition for either.
Configuration and implementation checks
| Configuration item | Assumed starting point for this page | How to check, and why |
|---|---|---|
| Trigger method | Initiated daily by an external scheduler | Check the available entry point against the actual version and confirm who owns the trigger |
| Request URL | References a configured url variable | Compare item by item with the external interface document; do not assume a connection exists |
| Request method | POST | Check against the interface document; Body takes effect only under specific request types |
| Request header | Authorization as Bearer {{token}} | Check the source and valid scope of the token; this is not business authorization |
| Request body fields | References to arrival note number and acceptance note number variables | Strings need quotation marks; arrays and objects follow the documented reference form |
| Return value extraction | Extract the status field by JSON path | Output formatting mainly converts json to string; check the key and the output type |
POST is chosen as this page's assumed starting point because the sample is a submission for checking. It is compared with the method declared in the interface document, and the document governs if they differ. All values and fields are assumed trial starting points for this page, not official defaults.
Three common errors
- Treating the timed trigger as an established WMS or ERP connection. The input is a configured trigger entry point; compare whether a configured HTTP request also exists; the observable result is a missing request record or a trigger record with nothing after it.
- Treating an arrival note number collected by retrieval or by a form as authorization to execute. The input is a form value; compare it with the authorization status field; the observable result is a write or synchronization action with no corresponding authorization basis.
- Treating a discrepancy report pending review as confirmed. The input is the sample status "pending review"; compare whether a confirmation record exists; the observable result is that both replenishment and automatic completion lack a basis.
How to verify the setup
- Input arrival note PO-20250310-07 and acceptance note YS-20250310-07 from the sample text, and compare expected 200 pieces with received 180 pieces. If the discrepancy report status is still pending review, the replenishment and automatic completion in the draft sentence do not hold, and the item is recorded as awaiting verification.
- Input the configured request URL, method, and request header, and compare them with the external interface document. If the method or a field does not match, the request result cannot be used by downstream nodes, and the gap is kept open.
- Input the trigger time and the returned result, and compare them with the business status field. If the returned result is missing or the status is not updated, the execution record shows only that a trigger occurred, not that a write succeeded.
All three verification steps are paper checks and were not actually executed.
