What the documents look like
Cross-border return refurbishment and resale handles reverse logistics and item condition. This differs from overseas-warehouse inbound replenishment, which is a forward-stocking activity. The main records come from overseas-warehouse WMS, platform return reports, and item inspection photographs. The daily documents include return inspection sheets, refurbishment records, scrap forms, and relisting lists. These records also carry inventory procurement and supplier information, so retrieval has to keep return batch, supplier, item condition, and disposition conclusion distinguishable. Records update daily or per batch, and the retrieval concern is whether fields within one batch can be recalled consistently.
For procurement and supplier material, the practical consequence is that a return inspection sheet and a relisting list may describe the same item at different stages. A search that returns an inspection record does not return an approved disposition. The vector index step therefore has to preserve stage, subject, object, and validity scope as separate retrievable content rather than blending them into one summary.
Constraints at the vector indexes step
Knowledge bases associated for retrieval must use the same vector model. Confirm the actual model identifier and its input type before associating them. One original data block can be linked to multiple indexes, and the index content is checked separately from the original content. Build index content from complete and focused information; retrieval coverage and index length are weighed against the sample. Image retrieval also depends on whether image descriptions or image vectors were generated at ingestion time, so checking only the query side is insufficient. After a model or index change, compare cited original text using the same set of questions; a vector score alone does not support a performance claim. Retrieval results do not carry authorization or entity-isolation duties.
A hypothetical paper sample for review: the source text to compare against reads, "Return inspection sheet Q-0715 records the subject as an overseas warehouse, the object as refurbished earphones in batch B-2207, the status as pending inspection, and the validity scope as the batch received on 15 July 2024." The proposed sentence to judge reads, "This batch has completed relisting, and supplier data has been synchronized." This sentence asserts two facts, status and synchronization. The source text does not state either one, so the sentence is unsupported by the available evidence.
Configuration and implementation checks
| Configuration item | Hypothetical starting point for this trial | How to check |
|---|---|---|
| Vector model | Associated knowledge bases use one identical vector model | Compare model identifiers and input types; exclude mismatched ones |
| Index content | Each inspection record keeps subject, object, status, and validity scope | Compare field by field against the source text |
| Image index | Image description or image vector generated at ingestion | Inspect the ingestion record for the corresponding index |
| Search mode | Semantic retrieval plus full-text retrieval | For identifier questions observe full-text hits; for natural-language questions observe semantic hits |
| Citation limit | Counted in tokens; starting point set from sample length | Compare against the actual sample length, then adjust |
| Minimum relevance | Numeric value from 0 to 1; starting point at the middle | Compare against the rerank score, then adjust |
The starting points above are choices for this hypothetical trial, not documented defaults. Each is compared against an observed value from the same sample before any adjustment.
The knowledge base search node outputs cited content as an array, and its length can be zero. A search that returns nothing still completes the output path. The node can be added repeatedly, accepts external input, and carries static configuration. RRF is a fusion step that combines multiple retrieval channels; it is not a switch to turn on. ReRank requires a model and must be enabled according to settings. Image retrieval requires an actual image input and the corresponding model capability. A total flow diagram listing optional paths does not mean every request executes all of them.
Three common errors
- Treating a retrieval hit as authorized execution. A search returning an inspection record does not mean refurbishment, scrapping, or relisting has been approved. Those business actions need their stated downstream implementation. A pending review is not proof that operating permission is absent; signing, reaching cooperation, and contract effectiveness are three distinct facts, and a quotation validity period does not indicate a supply period.
- Associating knowledge bases that use different vector models. Knowledge bases with different vector models cannot be associated together. Compare identifiers and exclude mismatched ones; do not run a cross-model retrieval to compare missed recalls or produce claims about runtime behavior.
- Treating a pending review as missing operating permission. Pending review does not demonstrate that permission is absent. Do not supply an authorization or effectiveness clause to force a definite answer; record the evidence gap instead.
How to verify the setup
- Input the proposed sentence, "This batch has completed relisting, and supplier data has been synchronized," and compare it against the source text for whether the status and synchronization fields are stated. The source text states only pending inspection, so the judgment is unsupported and the evidence gap is retained. The comparison uses the same subject, the same period, and the same field; a contradiction requires mutually exclusive values in one field, while unstated or stage-only evidence is unsupported or pending verification.
- Input the inspection sheet source text and compare whether the recalled content includes subject, object, status, and validity scope. If the recalled content lacks the status field, record it as incomplete index content, adjust the index, and retest. Do not guarantee a first-position hit, full recall, or an empty result for an unrelated query.
- Input an empty-result case using the explicit paper input
[]and check whether the downstream design accepts an empty citation array. If the downstream has not defined empty-result handling, record it as a design gap pending completion. Do not claim that a fictional rule-based retrieval necessarily returns[].
Materials needed for these checks must sit within the accessible target retrieval scope or in a clearly defined manual input. When they are absent, record the gap. Retrieval and semantic relevance do not perform permission or entity isolation, and the same-vector-model requirement for associated knowledge bases does not extend to business-registration sites or other external systems.
