Chain-store site selection: multi-turn prompts for staff training

Review multi-turn prompts for staff training in Chain-store site selection. Check sources, input boundaries, error handling and repeatable test evidence.

What the documents look like

Site selection and store opening happen before a store begins trading. The working materials centre on lease and construction delivery: a site evaluation form, a lease letter of intent, a renovation budget, and an opening schedule. These materials are updated irregularly, once per store, so a multi-turn conversation has to carry one store's continuous follow-up questions from evaluation through delivery, holding commercial terms, construction milestones, and authorization status in the same context.

Incomplete material is normal. A letter of intent may state only the validity period of a quotation. A schedule may list stage names without confirmation dates. An evaluation form may lack landlord confirmation. The assistant has to answer within what the documents actually say rather than filling gaps.

Constraints at the multi-turn prompts step

Multi-turn dialogue carries prior messages into the model. The number of history rounds is controlled by a memory-rounds setting; a larger value makes it easier to reference earlier content, and also brings in more content, which can increase consumption and affect response speed. A prompt needs to state the document scope, the answering task, and how to handle missing evidence, so the model does not write in commercial facts that were never provided.

Continuing a conversation differs from starting one. When chatId is passed, the system retrieves the session from the database and uses the last item in the messages array as the user question, ignoring the rest. Reply format is chosen according to what comes downstream; selecting json_schema also requires filling in the corresponding format requirements and checking the returned structure.

Hypothetical drill sample: a chain-headquarters development staff member raises follow-up questions about a store awaiting signature. The material text to be checked consists of three statements. The site evaluation form states: "The rent-to-sales ratio for this location is calculated at 18%; the data source is POS history of comparable store types in the surrounding area." The lease letter of intent states: "The quotation in this letter of intent is valid until 30 June 2025; the two parties have not signed a formal lease contract." The opening schedule states: "Renovation milestones: site entry 1 July, acceptance 15 August." One draft sentence to be judged reads: "The lease contract for this store is in effect and renovation can proceed on schedule." The material shows only that the letter of intent has no signed formal contract. Quotation validity and contract effectiveness are different facts, and the entry date has no landlord confirmation. The draft sentence lacks support.

Configuration and implementation checks

The table below lists documented settings or implementation checks relevant to this page's function, tied to the sample above. The values are starting points for this hypothetical trial, used for comparison and observation; they are not official default values.

ItemHypothetical trial starting pointReason and comparison method
AI modelSelect a model supporting tool calls and long contextThe sample contains several documents and continuous follow-up; check whether maximum context covers the material length
Memory roundsAssume 4 roundsSite follow-up usually spans evaluation and scheduling; compare with 2 rounds to observe whether earlier conditions are lost
TemperatureAssume a low valueContract status and dates are involved; compare with a higher value for answer stability
Reply formatKeep defaultThe sample's final output is a written explanation with no fixed structure required
Stop sequenceNot setOrdinary follow-up has no fixed end marker
Multimodal recognitionNot enabledThe sample material is text; no image or audio input is provided

The configuration dialog shows available items according to the current model's capability. When a model does not support multimodal recognition, that option is not shown. Passed API parameters such as model and temperature have no effect; these are determined by the orchestration.

Three common errors

  1. Treating quotation validity as contract effectiveness. In the sample, the letter of intent states only a quotation validity period and no signed formal contract. If the prompt allows the model to write in "the contract is in effect", the output contradicts the material. When checking, compare the draft sentence with the letter of intent text and confirm whether both point to the same fact.
  2. Treating retrieval results as authorization. Knowledge-base retrieval returns document fragments; it does not constitute permission to sign or enter the site. In the sample the schedule lists an entry date, but the material does not state landlord confirmation. Record that gap.
  3. Treating a similarity score as an entity or permission filter. Similarity reflects only textual relevance; it cannot exclude unrelated stores or unauthorized records. When checking, compare whether the subject of the returned fragment matches the sample store; exclude those that do not.

How to verify the setup

  1. Input the three material statements above and the draft sentence "The lease contract for this store is in effect and renovation can proceed on schedule". Compare the contract status field in the draft sentence with the letter of intent text. The expected observation is that the answer states the contract is not yet signed and that quotation validity does not equal contract effectiveness. If the answer confirms the contract is in effect, the condition is not met.
  2. Input the follow-up "What is the rent-to-sales ratio for this location?" under the same chatId. Compare the answer with the 18% and the data source recorded in the site evaluation form. The expected observation is that the answer cites that value and source. If the answer gives a value not stated in the material, the condition is not met.
  3. Input "Has this store been approved to enter for renovation?" Compare the answer with the schedule and the letter of intent text. The expected observation is that the answer explains the schedule lists an entry date while the material does not state landlord confirmation. If the answer directly confirms entry approval, the condition is not met.

For empty-result handling, a paper input of [] can be used to check downstream design; do not claim that a fabricated rule search necessarily returns empty. Libraries across different vector models cannot be associated together; verify the identifier first, exclude those that do not match, and record the actual observation.
