Temu semi-managed sellers: database operations for operating reviews

Review database operations for operating reviews in Temu semi-managed sellers. Check input mappings, source evidence and failure handling before use.

What the documents look like

Semi-managed sellers on Temu maintain overseas inventory and ship orders themselves, rather than supplying goods to the platform only. Operating reviews and exception retrospectives therefore work across four document families: product declaration forms, overseas inventory tables, price declarations, and platform fulfillment orders. These materials update daily and per order. A report check must be able to trace any summary figure back to a specific document and a specific date range. A monthly total and a single-day document are not interchangeable evidence.

A paper exercise sample is used below. The subject is a semi-managed storefront referred to as "a semi-managed storefront in East China." The object is the overseas inventory table and the platform fulfillment order for 1 March 2025 through 31 March 2025. The supplied source wording to be checked reads: "The overseas inventory table records SKU-A at the US West warehouse with an available quantity of 120 units on 15 March. The platform fulfillment order records SKU-A outbound 80 units on 15 March, with status shipped." A draft sentence under review reads: "The storefront had no stockout for SKU-A on 15 March." The information needed to judge that sentence is the available quantity and the outbound quantity for the same subject, the same date, and the same SKU. The materials do not state a safety stock threshold or inbound replenishment quantity.

Constraints at the database operations step

Database and operations work carries three responsibilities for this task: storing the business source records, providing the connections and caching that report queries rely on, and rechecking after any change. The documented settings distinguish roles. MONGODB_URI is the main business MongoDB connection address. MONGODB_LOG_URI is the log MongoDB connection address and may reuse the main database when it is not configured. REDIS_URL is the Redis connection address. DB_MAX_LINK is the maximum connection pool size for MongoDB, PG, OceanBase, openGauss and similar databases, automatically limited to 10 through 1000. SYNC_INDEX controls whether missing MongoDB indexes are created at startup and explicitly declared obsolete indexes are cleaned; when it is off, indexes must be maintained separately. LOG_ENABLE_OTEL controls whether OpenTelemetry log reporting is enabled, with LOG_OTEL_URL and LOG_OTEL_LEVEL describing the reporting address and level.

Vector retrieval backends serve a different role from the business database. PG_URL, OCEANBASE_URL, SEEKDB_URL, MILVUS_ADDRESS, OPENGAUSS_URL and related settings are checked against the actual deployment. A relevance score is not a category, entity, or permission filter. Retrieval results cannot serve as authorization evidence, and similarity settings do not exclude unrelated businesses or unauthorized records.

Data updates daily and per order. This page does not infer batch synchronization, full synchronization, real-time triggers, or transaction-triggered mechanisms from that frequency.

Configuration and implementation checks

Configuration itemRelevance on this pageAssumed check for this exercise
MONGODB_URIMain business MongoDB connection addressFill per deployment plan; confirm report queries reach the same database
MONGODB_LOG_URILog MongoDB connection address; reuses main database when unsetConfirm whether logs and business data are separated; record the actual target
REDIS_URLRedis connection addressConfirm the cache service is reachable; record the connection result
DB_MAX_LINKMaximum connection pool size, automatically limited to 10 through 1000Assumed starting value 50 for this exercise, chosen to observe connection occupancy against the documented default 10 and the upper bound 1000
SYNC_INDEXCreates missing indexes at startup and cleans explicitly declared obsolete indexesConfirm the enabled state; when off, record that indexes require separate maintenance
LOG_ENABLE_OTELWhether OpenTelemetry log reporting is enabledEnable as needed; record the reporting address and level

Three common errors

  1. Treating a retrieval relevance score as a permission filter. Input is a report query request. Comparison is between the returned records and the authorized scope of the target storefront. Observable result is whether records belonging to other storefronts appear. A relevance score does not perform entity isolation. If unrelated records appear, record the authorization boundary as needing separate verification.
  2. Treating a pending status as an approved status. In the exercise sample, the fulfillment order status is "shipped." If a draft sentence states that the outbound shipment has received platform settlement approval, the input is the fulfillment order source text. Comparison is between the field "shipped" and the field "settled." Observable result is whether the material states a settlement status. If it does not, the draft sentence is unsupported.
  3. Using a summary figure to override a document date range. Input is a monthly summary and the 15 March document. Comparison is between the summary scope and the document date. Observable result is whether both point to the same period. When the scopes differ, the two cannot corroborate each other.

How to verify the setup

  1. For the draft sentence "The storefront had no stockout for SKU-A on 15 March," the input is the overseas inventory table source text and the fulfillment order source text. Comparison is between the available quantity of 120 units and the outbound quantity of 80 units for the same subject, the same date, and the same SKU. Observable result is whether the materials state a threshold or inbound quantity needed to judge a stockout. When they do not, the sentence is unsupported and the evidence gap remains open.
  2. For a report query request, the input is a query limited to the target storefront and a date range. Comparison is between the subject identifiers in the returned records and the requested scope. Observable result is whether any subject outside the scope appears. If one does, record it as pending verification without inferring a cause.
  3. For empty-result handling, the input is a paper input of []. Comparison is between the downstream report design and its handling branch for empty results. Observable result is whether the design explicitly distinguishes "no matching records" from "query failure." When the design does not state this, record it as a design gap. Do not assert that a retrieval under an invented rule necessarily returns empty.
