Peak-sale fulfillment: retrieval for operating reviews

Review retrieval for operating reviews in Peak-sale fulfillment. Check document scope, failure paths and source evidence through controlled tests.

What the documents look like

Peak-sale fulfillment planning revolves around short-term peak capacity and the arrangement of people, vehicles, and space. This differs from the daily balancing logic of multi-warehouse inventory synchronization. The materials on this page include peak-sale forecast tables, staffing rosters, courier assurance plans, and exception daily reports. These materials update on two rhythms: per event and daily. Retrieval must locate content by specific event and date. Data from a previous event cannot serve as the basis for the current event.

Historical peak-sale orders, platform campaign registrations, WMS capacity, and courier pickup capability form the main data sources. Operating reports and exception reviews need to pull figures from these materials for cross-checking. The retrieval step is responsible for recalling relevant passages to the model. Recalled results are reference content only. They do not constitute approval of a production plan, a staffing arrangement, or a courier plan.

Constraints at the retrieval step

The knowledge base search node can associate one or more knowledge bases that use the same vector model. Knowledge bases with different vector models cannot be associated together. The vector model identifier must be checked first, non-matching bases excluded, and the actual observation recorded. The same-vector-model requirement for retrieval bases does not extend to business registration sites or other external systems.

Semantic retrieval, full-text retrieval, and hybrid retrieval each have suitable scenarios. Numbers, model designations, and proper nouns suit full-text retrieval or hybrid retrieval. Natural-language questions suit semantic retrieval or hybrid retrieval. Hybrid retrieval merges multiple result paths through RRF. RRF is a fusion process, not a standalone switch. Result reranking requires a ReRank model and must be enabled according to settings. After reranking, a score between 0 and 1 is available. Image retrieval requires corresponding image input and model capability. The optional paths listed in the overall document flow diagram do not mean every request executes all of them.

Minimum relevance takes effect only during semantic retrieval or when result reranking is used. It is a filtering threshold, not a final ranking rule. The reference upper limit uses tokens as its unit. Question optimization performs coreference resolution and question expansion, and it adds one model call. Retrieval and relevance do not handle permission or entity isolation. Retrieval results do not constitute authorization.

Hypothetical drill sample: A warehouse's peak-sale forecast table contains the original text: "This event runs from October 20 to October 22. Peak order volume is prepared at an average of 80,000 orders per day. The staffing roster covers October 19 to October 23. The courier assurance plan requires the business team to confirm vehicle count before October 15." A separate exception daily report records: "On October 21, pickup was delayed by 2 hours, involving the East China route." The draft sentence to be judged is: "The courier assurance plan for this peak-sale event was confirmed on October 15, and the vehicle count meets peak demand." Check points: The original text only states that the business team must confirm vehicle count before October 15. It does not state that confirmation was completed, nor that the vehicle count meets peak demand. The draft sentence's "was confirmed" and "meets" are both unsupported.

Configuration and implementation checks

Configuration itemHypothetical trial starting point for this pageReason for choice and comparison method
Associated knowledge basesAssociate only peak-sale planning bases that use the same vector modelCheck vector model identifiers first, exclude bases with different models, record the actual association result
Search modeRun one round each of semantic retrieval and full-text retrievalCompare the two recall paths against the test question; do not presume one mode suits all materials
Reference upper limitStart at a token amount that can hold one complete staffing passageTest with actual materials of varying length to see whether content stays complete, then adjust
Minimum relevanceStart at 0.5, effective only during semantic retrieval or rerankingLabel relevant and irrelevant samples first, then adjust the threshold and observe remaining items after filtering
Question optimizationEnable for multi-turn follow-up questions containing coreferenceCompare the original question with the optimized question, check whether the subject was altered incorrectly
Result rerankingEnable when candidates are numerous and a ReRank model is availableCompare order before and after reranking, filter using the rerank score

Three common errors

  1. Treating a retrieval hit as authorized execution. In the hypothetical sample, the courier assurance plan only states that the business team must confirm vehicle count before October 15. Retrieving that sentence does not equal completed confirmation, nor does it equal a vehicle count that meets peak demand. To check, input the original text and the draft sentence, compare whether "was confirmed" and "meets" have corresponding statements. The condition is satisfied only when the original text explicitly states completed confirmation and a meeting conclusion.
  2. Associating knowledge bases with different vector models together. The hypothetical sample involves a peak-sale planning base and another external reference base. If their vector model identifiers differ, they cannot be associated together. To check, input the vector model identifiers of both bases, compare whether they match. A mismatch means exclusion. Do not run cross-model retrieval to compare missed recalls.
  3. Treating minimum relevance as permission or entity filtering. In the hypothetical sample, the exception daily report involves only the East China route. Minimum relevance does not exclude records from other routes. To check, input the same query, compare returned items before and after filtering, and observe whether unrelated routes still appear. The relevance threshold does not perform route isolation.

How to verify the setup

  1. Input the hypothetical sample's peak-sale forecast table original text and the draft sentence "The courier assurance plan for this peak-sale event was confirmed on October 15, and the vehicle count meets peak demand." Compare whether the original text states completed confirmation and a meeting conclusion. The original text only writes "confirm vehicle count before October 15," without stating completion status. The judgment is unsupported, and the evidence gap is recorded.
  2. Input the hypothetical sample's exception daily report text "On October 21, pickup was delayed by 2 hours, involving the East China route." Compare whether the draft sentence turns this exception into all routes or all time periods. The original subject is the East China route and the date is October 21. Statements beyond that scope are unsupported.
  3. Input an empty reference content array, and check whether the downstream design can carry a reference chain of length 0. Empty-result handling can be checked with the explicit paper input []. Do not claim that a fictional rule retrieval necessarily returns []. If retrieval returns content, compare whether it belongs to an associated knowledge base with the same vector model, and record the actual observation. Do not guarantee a first hit or complete recall.
