Marketplace returns: database operations for operating reviews

Review database operations for operating reviews in Marketplace returns. Check document scope, failure paths and source evidence through controlled tests.

What the documents look like

Ordinary marketplace refunds arise order by order, and they do not necessarily connect to a commitment made in a single livestream session. Operating reviews and exception reviews therefore work from refund requests, return logistics notes, quality inspection photos and refund approvals that accumulate one order at a time. These materials sit in the platform after-sales backend, customer service chat, WMS receiving and payment refund records, and they refresh per order and daily.

For database and operations work, the practical consequence is that field mapping has to keep reporting figures consistent with the underlying documents. A refund request carries an order reference and a requested amount. A return logistics note carries a carrier number and a receiving state. A quality inspection photo carries a photo identifier. A refund approval carries an approval state. When a material is absent, the corresponding field can only be recorded as unknown, and no downstream conclusion may be drawn from the gap.

Constraints at the database operations step

Business record storage and vector retrieval backends serve different purposes and must be checked against the actual deployment. Connection pool, cache and vector store addresses follow the chosen scheme, and a configured value cannot be inferred from a variable name. Backup creation and actual restore are verified separately, with a sample and a record that can be compared. After a database or service configuration change, the same business sample is checked again; a running process alone does not satisfy this.

A hypothetical drill sample is used throughout this page. On 10 March 2025 a marketplace after-sales specialist submits a refund approval document, document number TK-20250310-017, order number SO-20250301-442, refund amount CNY 268, return logistics number SF-20250308-7712, quality inspection photo number QC-20250309-33, approval state "pending review". On the same day a customer service chat record states: "The consumer reports the outer packaging is damaged and applies for a refund only." One draft sentence is awaiting judgement: "This order has completed the refund, and the refund amount has been returned to the original payment channel." The approval state "pending review" does not support the draft sentence, and whether the refund was executed remains unsupported.

The distinction matters for handover. A retrieval result, a form entry or a pending approval is not an authorization to execute a refund. Retrieval association requires the vector model identifier to be checked first, and records that do not match are excluded. An empty result can be checked against an explicit paper input of [] to review the downstream design; no fictional rule is claimed to return an empty list.

Configuration and implementation checks

The table below covers settings and implementation checks documented in the official environment variable reference, tied to this page's sample and task. The numeric starting values are hypothetical drill starting points used for comparison against observed load; they are not official defaults.

Configuration itemHypothetical drill starting pointReason and comparison object
DBMAXLINK20The document states the value is automatically limited to 10 to 1000; the starting point is compared with observed connection count and error rate
REDIS_URLFill per actual deploymentThe document gives the connection address format; check against the actual cache service address
MONGODB_URIFill per actual deploymentMain business storage connection address; check separately from the log store address
MONGODBLOGURIFill per actual deploymentThe log store may reuse the main store; verify separately from the main connection
STORAGEDOWNLOADURL_MODEshort-proxyThe document lists two download modes; compare with the short link actually returned
SYNC_INDEXtrueThe document states missing indexes are created at startup; compare with indexes actually present

Three common errors

  1. Treating approval state "pending review" as an executed refund. Input is the sample approval document and the draft sentence; the comparison is between the approval state field and the refund amount; the observable result is the state value "pending review", so the completed refund asserted in the draft sentence remains unsupported.
  2. Treating a retrieval result as an authorization credential. Input is a similar record returned by the vector store; the comparison is between the record identifier and the business document subject; the observable result is that only an identifier match may proceed to manual review, and retrieval by itself does not constitute approval or refund execution.
  3. Treating a backup creation record as a successful restore. Input is the backup task log; the comparison is between the actual restore sample and the original document fields; the observable result is that only matching fields after restore satisfy the condition, and the mere existence of a task does not.

How to verify the setup

  1. Take sample approval document TK-20250310-017, enter it into the database query, compare the approval state field with the draft sentence, and observe the state "pending review"; the completed refund asserted in the draft sentence remains unsupported. If the query returns an empty result, record it as unsupported rather than inferring a negative.
  2. Take sample return logistics number SF-20250308-7712, enter it into the WMS receiving record query, compare the logistics number with the receiving state field, and observe that the condition is satisfied when the number matches and the receiving state has a definite value; when the field is missing, record the gap.
  3. Take sample quality inspection photo number QC-20250309-33, issue an object storage access request, compare the returned content with the photo number, and observe that the condition is satisfied when the number matches and the content is readable; when access fails, record the failure branch without asserting that the photo necessarily exists.

The checks above are paper expectations and were not actually executed. Retrieval association requires checking the vector model identifier first and excluding non-matching records; an empty result can be checked against an explicit paper input of [] to review the downstream design.
