What the documents look like
Douyin storefront shelf operations center on product cards and store experience scores. The daily document set covers four material types: product qualification pages, experience score breakdowns, shipping violation appeals, and store announcements. In cross-border material and multilingual retrieval work, one qualification page may exist in a Chinese version and a target-market language version at the same time. Experience score breakdowns update daily or per order. Shipping violation appeals and store announcements carry a stated subject, object, and time range.
These materials enter a knowledge base, where parsing and chunking quality determines whether later retrieval can point back to the source text. The material update frequency is daily or per order; the retrieval side needs to check actual training and index status. A successful upload does not mean retrieval has refreshed.
Constraints at the document chunking step
Chunking needs to keep conditions, explanations, and the content they constrain in one complete relationship. One group of source data can map to multiple indexes; a hit on any one index recalls that group of source data. Semantic retrieval supports cross-language matching, so a Chinese question can match an English knowledge point. That capability depends on the vector model and does not extend to the conclusion that business registration sites or other external systems use the same model. Full-text retrieval depends on keyword hits and suits numbers, models, and proper nouns. Hybrid retrieval merges multiple result paths through RRF, which is a fusion process and not a switch that can be turned on. Minimum relevance is a filter threshold that takes effect only in semantic retrieval or result reranking, and it does not carry permission, entity, or category isolation. The reference limit is controlled in tokens, which differs from top k.
Hypothetical exercise sample: a Douyin merchant's product qualification page reads: "The rechargeable desk lamp sold by this store, model LT-2024, has obtained the target-market electrical safety certification, valid until December 31, 2026. This certification covers two models, LT-2024 and LT-2024A." The draft sentence to be assessed is: "Model LT-2024B has also obtained the above certification." The assessment needs the same subject, the same period, and the same field. The source certification coverage lists LT-2024 and LT-2024A. LT-2024B is not stated, so the draft sentence is unsupported rather than denied or in conflict.
Configuration and implementation checks
| Configuration or check item | Hypothetical starting point for this exercise | Reason and comparison method |
|---|---|---|
| Search mode | Hybrid retrieval | The qualification page contains model numbers and natural-language description, so both query types need coverage |
| Minimum relevance | Hypothetical starting value 0.3 | Compare with 0.5 and observe whether unrelated fragments decrease; this is not an official default |
| Reference limit | Hypothetical starting value 2000 tokens | Compare with 1000 tokens and observe whether multilingual passages are truncated |
| Question optimization | Enabled for multi-turn follow-up scenarios | Compare with the disabled state for follow-up recall; it adds one model call |
| Result reranking | Enabled when candidates are numerous | Compare ordering with no reranking; the rerank score is 0-1 and can be used for filtering |
| Image retrieval | Checked when image input exists and the model supports it | Check whether an image index was generated at ingestion; with no image input it does not run |
Three common errors
- Treating a successful upload as refreshed retrieval. The input is the upload record of a new qualification page version, the comparison object is the actual training and index status, and the observable result is that retrieval still returns the old version, which shows the training status needs review.
- Treating minimum relevance as a permission or category filter. The input is a cross-category query, the comparison object is whether returned results include unrelated categories, and the observable result is that low-relevance content is still returned, which shows the parameter does not perform isolation.
- Describing RRF as a switch that can be turned on. The input is a configuration screen capture, the comparison object is the documented position of RRF, and the observable result is that no independent switch is found, which shows RRF is the fusion process of hybrid retrieval.
How to verify the setup
- Check one: input the hypothetical sample source text and the draft sentence "Model LT-2024B has also obtained the above certification"; compare the source certification coverage with the model in the draft sentence; the observable result is that the draft model does not appear in the source coverage, so the sentence is unsupported and the evidence gap must be recorded.
- Check two: input the term "LT-2024" and the natural-language phrase "desk lamp certification requirements"; compare the recalled content for both queries; the observable result is that the number query hits the qualification page and the natural-language query hits semantically close passages, and neither guarantees a first-position hit.
- Check three: input the paper value of an empty result []; check the downstream design for handling empty references; the observable result is that the downstream design does not treat the empty result as authorization or approval, because retrieval does not perform authorization actions.
Cross-model association is not possible; identifiers must be checked first and non-matching items excluded, with actual observations recorded. Cross-model retrieval is not run to compare missed recall. A pending review does not show that operation permission is absent. Signing, reaching cooperation, and contract effectiveness are three separate facts.
This page addresses only Douyin storefront shelf operations, cross-border material and multilingual retrieval, and document parsing and chunking. During operations handover, the authorization state of materials, operations, and requests must be kept distinct; retrieval or a form must not be treated as authorization execution.
