What the documents look like
Franchise filing management handles legal disclosure and the commerce department system. It does not handle individual site engineering. The working documents are franchise contracts, operations manuals, filing materials and information disclosure documents. Their sources are the commercial franchise information management system, enterprise licences, store lists and contract ledgers.
In a cross-border setting, the same set of materials can exist in Chinese and in another language at the same time. A retrieval result needs to be traced back to the specific source text before it can be checked. Material updates occur irregularly or once a year, so a version difference can change whether a citation is still valid.
A search node returns citations as an array, and the length can be zero. An empty array means the output path still runs; it does not mean the workflow stopped with an error. Linked knowledge bases must use the same vector model, so knowledge bases built on different vector models cannot be linked together. Semantic retrieval supports cross-language understanding, and its similarity is a mathematical distance. That distance does not act as a permission filter or an entity filter. The minimum relevance value is a filter threshold and takes effect only in semantic retrieval or when result reranking is used. It does not exclude unrelated businesses or unauthorized records. The citation limit is measured in tokens and differs from top k. Full-text retrieval suits exact queries such as numbers and proper nouns. Hybrid retrieval merges multiple result paths through RRF. Reranking requires a rerank model and must be enabled in the settings. Image retrieval requires image input and the corresponding model capability. The paths shown in the overall document flow diagram do not all execute on every request.
Hypothetical drill sample: a franchisor headquarters intends to send an English retrieval citation of a Chinese disclosure document summary to an overseas franchise applicant. The source text for checking is: "The signing parties to this franchise contract are Party A, a certain chain management company, and Party B, an overseas franchise applicant. The filing materials submission date is March 2024. The information disclosure document states the franchise fee amount and the refund conditions." One draft sentence to be judged is: "This contract has taken effect and the franchise fee is fully refundable." The retrieval output citation array is []. This array is used to check the downstream handling design.
Constraints at the citation tracing step
The retrieval step outputs a citation array, and its length can be zero. An empty array means the output path runs through; it does not mean the workflow terminated with an error. The linked knowledge base requires the same vector model, so knowledge bases on different vector models cannot be linked together. Semantic retrieval supports cross-language understanding, and similarity is a mathematical distance. It does not carry out permission isolation or entity isolation. The minimum relevance value is a filter threshold and takes effect only in semantic retrieval or when result reranking is used. It does not exclude unrelated businesses or unauthorized records. The citation limit uses tokens as its unit and differs from top k. Full-text retrieval suits exact queries such as numbers and proper nouns. Hybrid retrieval merges multiple result paths through RRF. Reranking requires a rerank model and must be enabled in the settings. Image retrieval requires image input and the corresponding model capability. The paths listed in the overall document flow diagram do not all execute on every request.
The retrieval library's same-vector-model requirement cannot be extended to mean that the commerce website or other external systems must also use the same model. RRF is a fusion process for hybrid results and is not written as an on/off switch. A thinking budget is a reasoning budget and cannot be moved into the role of a citation token limit. The retrieval check describes observations and failure branches; it does not guarantee a first-hit result, full recall, or that an unrelated query must return empty.
Configuration and implementation checks
| Configuration item | Hypothetical trial starting value | Comparison and reason |
|---|---|---|
| Linked knowledge bases | Select only the Chinese disclosure document base and the English translation base that use the same vector model | Check the vector model identifier, exclude those that do not match, and do not run cross-model retrieval |
| Search mode | Hybrid retrieval | Compare candidate scope against semantic retrieval and full-text retrieval separately, and observe the ranking after RRF fusion |
| Citation limit | Hypothetical starting value of 3000 tokens | Compare the change in citation count against 1500 tokens; this value is only a starting point for this trial |
| Minimum relevance | Hypothetical starting value of 0.5 | Compare the remaining count after filtering against 0.3; it takes effect only in semantic retrieval or reranking |
| Result reranking | Enabled | Compare the 0-1 rerank score ordering against the disabled state; a rerank model is required |
| Citation content output | Accept the array, allowing a length of zero | Use the paper input [] to check the downstream design; do not claim that a fictional rule must return empty |
Three common errors
- Treating the retrieval output as proof of authorization or effectiveness. The draft sentence says "This contract has taken effect," while the source text only states the signing parties and the filing materials submission date. It does not state an effectiveness clause. The check input is the source text and the draft sentence; the comparison covers the three facts of signing, filing submission and contract effectiveness; the observable result is whether the draft sentence exceeds what the source text supports.
- Treating the minimum relevance value as an entity filter or a permission filter. The check input is the minimum relevance setting and the retrieval results; the comparison is whether the value only affects filtering of low-relevance content; the observable result is whether it is wrongly expected to exclude unauthorized records.
- Treating an empty citation array as an error or as a necessary outcome. The check input is the citation array []; the comparison is between the node output behaviour and the downstream handling design; the observable result is whether the empty array is equated with workflow termination or whether a specific query is claimed to be necessarily empty.
How to verify the setup
- Check the hypothetical sample source text against the draft sentence. The input is the three source sentences above together with "This contract has taken effect and the franchise fee is fully refundable." The comparison is whether the draft sentence is supported by the source text for the same subject, the same period and the same field. The source text does not state an effectiveness clause or the details of the refund conditions, so the draft sentence is unsupported and the evidence gap must be retained.
- Check the downstream handling with the citation array []. The input is an explicit paper empty array. The comparison is whether the downstream node accepts the empty citation as designed and continues. The observable result is whether an error termination or incorrect filling appears. This check does not claim that a fictional rule's retrieval must return empty.
- Check the linking scope with the same vector model identifier. The input is the vector model identifier of the candidate knowledge bases. The comparison is whether they match; exclude those that do not match and record the actual observation. Knowledge bases on different vector models cannot be linked together, and no missed recall or redundant result after such linking is invented.
This page addresses only franchise filing management, cross-border materials and multilingual retrieval, and citation source tracing. At operational handover, the authorization status of materials, operations and requests cannot be treated as authorization execution through retrieval or a form.
