What the documents look like
Cross-border return refurbishment and resale handles reverse logistics and item condition. This differs from first-leg replenishment management, which deals with inbound stock rather than returned goods. The main data sources are the overseas warehouse WMS, the TikTok return center, Amazon return reports, and item quality-inspection photos. Everyday documents include return quality-inspection forms, refurbishment records, scrap sheets, and relisting lists. Update frequency is daily and per batch.
In cross-border material and multilingual retrieval, these documents carry the traceability function. A return quality-inspection form records item condition and grade judgment. A refurbishment record records packaging and handling actions. A scrap sheet and a relisting list each point to a disposal destination. Citation tracing requires matching retrieved citation content to these source documents one by one, and confirming that each statement in an answer can be traced to a specific material. When this matching is loose, the practical consequences include higher refund cost, repeat complaints, and inventory records that do not agree with physical stock.
Constraints at the citation tracing step
The knowledge base search node outputs citation content as an array, and the length may be zero. Even when no content is found, the output path still runs. The retrieval output then goes to the answering step, where the answer and the cited original text are checked line by line. A thinking process or a fluent answer does not substitute for source evidence.
When associating knowledge bases, first check the selected knowledge bases and the material version. Only knowledge bases with the same vector model can be associated together. Knowledge bases using different vector models cannot be associated together; check the identifier first and exclude those that do not match. The minimum relevance of semantic retrieval is a filter threshold. It does not perform permission isolation or entity isolation. The same-vector-model requirement for retrieval knowledge bases does not extend to business-registration sites or other external systems.
Hybrid retrieval merges semantic and full-text results through RRF. Rerank performs a second ordering of candidate text. The citation limit is controlled by tokens and is unrelated to the thinking budget.
Hypothetical drill sample: an overseas warehouse inspector completed a batch of return inspections on 10 March 2025. The return quality-inspection form reads: "Batch A-0310, item is a folding chair, visible scratches, function normal, recommend refurbishment then relisting." The refurbishment record reads: "Batch A-0310, replaced outer packaging, applied new label, completion date 12 March 2025." The draft sentence to be judged is: "Batch A-0310 folding chair has completed refurbishment and has been relisted." The phrase "has been relisted" in this draft has no corresponding record in the available materials. The relisting list does not provide an entry for this batch, so this status remains to be verified.
Configuration and implementation checks
| Configuration item | Function | Check method for this page |
|---|---|---|
| Associated knowledge bases | Limits the search scope | Check selected knowledge bases and material version; confirm the vector model identifier matches |
| Search mode | Semantic, full-text, or hybrid retrieval | Choose according to the language and numbering features of the return quality-inspection form and refurbishment record |
| Citation limit | Maximum tokens cited per search | For this hypothetical trial, set a starting value that covers the two documents, and compare it with the length of returned retrieval content |
| Minimum relevance | Filters low-relevance results | Use as a filter threshold; do not use for permission or entity isolation |
| Question optimization | Coreference resolution and question expansion | In multilingual retrieval, confirm the question is complete and avoid over-expanding numbering-type queries |
| Rerank | Second ordering of candidate text | Confirm a rerank model is available and enabled per settings; when not enabled, no rerank score is produced |
The citation limit starting value is a hypothetical trial setting for this page, chosen to cover the two source documents in the drill sample. It is compared against the actual length of returned retrieval content. This is not a documented default.
Three common errors
- Treating retrieval output as authorization to execute. The knowledge base search returns a citation array. Retrieval by itself does not constitute completed refurbishment, approved scrapping, or permission to relist. The phrase "has been relisted" in the draft needs support from the relisting list or other materials. A retrieval hit does not mean a business action has been executed.
- Treating minimum relevance as permission or entity filtering. This value is a filter threshold. It does not exclude unrelated businesses or unauthorized records. Knowledge bases using different vector models cannot be associated together; check the identifier first and exclude those that do not match.
- Treating an empty citation array as an error. The citation content length may be zero. An empty array does not mean the workflow has terminated. Use an explicit paper input of [] to check the downstream design. Do not claim that a fictional-rule search will necessarily return [].
How to verify the setup
- Input the return quality-inspection form text and the refurbishment record text from the hypothetical sample above. Compare whether the retrieved citation content contains the subject, object, and date fields of these two materials. Observe whether each citation corresponds to the original text. If a citation is missing or the subject does not match, record the gap.
- Input the draft sentence to be judged, "Batch A-0310 folding chair has completed refurbishment and has been relisted." Compare the phrase "has been relisted" with the entries in the relisting list. Observe whether a record for this batch exists in the list. If it does not exist, this status is unsupported and cannot be judged as completed relisting.
- Use a paper input of [] to check the downstream answering step. Observe whether the empty citation array still runs through the output path, and whether the answering step still generates statements when there are no citations. If the answering step still outputs a specific business conclusion under empty citations, record that branch as pending verification.
These checks describe what to compare and what to observe. They do not claim that a test, deployment, approval, or business action has occurred.
