Shopify fulfillment: product questions with retrieval

Review retrieval for product questions in Shopify fulfillment. Check document scope, failure paths and source evidence through controlled tests.

What the documents look like

For product questions in Shopify fulfillment, this page examines FastGPT retrieval. Compare the material received with the sources used in the answer. The examples are hypothetical.

Constraints at the retrieval step

A new independent-store order test says, “Short-handled umbrella; storage bag listed separately.” Retrieval must distinguish product style from purchased contents. Matching the words storage bag alone does not establish its inclusion. Inspect candidates for each literal term, then compare search modes with the complete question about this order’s contents. The source check concerns the original wording and whether the separate list it refers to was actually supplied.

Three common errors

A proposed shipping label says only “umbrellas.” It identifies a broad parcel-content category, without establishing whether the storage bag belongs to this order. Preserve label and order identities, inspecting whether nearby product terms displace the order’s qualification in citations. Several snippets do not establish an included-items list. A token limit that removes “listed separately” can change the apparent meaning of a short answer, so retain the original location for checking.

How to verify the setup

If the contents list is missing, the label cannot supply the accompanying items. For a follow-up asking whether the bag is included, inspect optimization for the same order rather than another variant discussed earlier. After obtaining the corresponding list, repeat the question and trace the new citation, recording source additions separately from settings changes. Check minimum relevance under its applicable conditions. Relevance to an umbrella name does not establish that all order-content evidence has been found.
