What the documents look like
Multi-warehouse allocation and inventory synchronization sits in the order-routing stage, where the decision is which warehouse ships a given order. The working materials come from WMS, OMS, ERP inventory records and platform inventory interfaces. Day-to-day documents include allocation rules, inventory synchronization tables, transfer orders and stockout warnings. Because the same synchronization table can carry different sellable quantities on different dates, any retrieved passage has to be checked together with its date scope. Allocation rules, transfer orders and stockout warnings each depend on a subject, an applicable warehouse and an effective interval. When one of those elements is missing, a retrieved passage is material pending verification rather than a basis for a fulfillment or after-sales answer.
Constraints at the retrieval step
The knowledge base search node can associate one or more knowledge bases that use the same vector model. Before association, the vector model identifier of each base is checked; bases with different identifiers are excluded from joint association. This step is identifier checking and exclusion only. It does not run a cross-model search in order to compare missed recalls.
A single knowledge base retrieval combines text, images, semantic recall, full-text recall, question optimization and reranking according to the input and the search parameters, then merges the multiple result paths into reference content. The paths named in the documentation are optional combinations. Image retrieval requires an image input and the corresponding model capability; reranking requires a rerank model and must be enabled in the settings. These paths do not all execute on every request.
Reference content is output as an array and its length can be 0. When nothing is found, the output link still runs through. Semantic retrieval and the minimum relevance score affect only the selection of similar content; they do not perform permission or entity isolation, and retrieval itself is not authorization. Forms collect values. Business verification, approval, database writes and external synchronization each need their own stated downstream implementation.
A hypothetical paper exercise sample is used below. The source text is: "Allocation rule A applies to the East China regional warehouse, effective 1 March 2025; allocation rule B applies to the South China regional warehouse, effective 1 April 2025." The draft sentence to be judged is: "The East China and South China regional warehouses have both been routed under allocation rule A since 1 March 2025."
Configuration and implementation checks
The table below lists documented settings or implementation checks in the knowledge base search node that relate to this task, tied to the sample above. The values are starting points for this hypothetical exercise and are not official defaults.
| Configuration item | Hypothetical starting point for this exercise | Reason for the choice and comparison method |
|---|---|---|
| Associated knowledge bases | One allocation materials base with a consistent vector model identifier | Check the vector model identifier of each base first; exclude bases whose identifiers differ and do not associate them jointly |
| Search mode | Hybrid retrieval | Allocation rules contain region names and identifiers; compare semantic, full-text and hybrid results against the test question |
| Reference limit | Measured in tokens; start with a small value that fully contains one allocation rule | Test with allocation rules of different lengths and see whether reference content is truncated, then adjust |
| Minimum relevance | Mark relevant and irrelevant samples first, then take a value in the 0-1 range | Takes effect only under semantic retrieval or when reranking is used; compare filtering against the marked samples |
| Question optimization | Enabled for follow-up questions that contain references | Compare the original question with the optimized question and check whether region and date subjects have been altered |
| Result reranking | Enabled when a rerank model is available | For allocation questions with many candidates, compare ordering before and after reranking; rerank scores are filtered in the 0-1 range |
Three common errors
- Merging the East China and South China rules into one draft sentence. In the sample source text, the two rules have separate subjects, applicable warehouses and effective dates. The draft sentence places the South China regional warehouse under allocation rule A effective 1 March 2025, which is an inconsistent value in the same field as the source. To check, take the source text and the draft sentence as input, compare subject, applicable warehouse and effective date line by line, and treat any inconsistent value as unsupported by the source.
- Treating a retrieval hit as shipping authorization. Retrieval returns reference content only; semantic retrieval and the minimum relevance score do not perform permission or entity isolation. To check, take a question about a transfer order as input, compare the returned reference content against the list of authorized materials that can be accessed, and if the reference content involves warehouse records that are not authorized, record it as pending verification and route it to manual review rather than executing a transfer or synchronization on that basis.
- Using the reference limit as a substitute for judging content completeness. The reference limit is measured in tokens; when the limit is too small, one allocation rule can be truncated and its effective date lost. To check, take a longer allocation rule as input, compare the number of fields in the reference content against the source, and if the subject, applicable warehouse or effective date is missing, judge the reference incomplete.
How to verify the setup
- Same-model association check. The input is the sample source text above together with two knowledge base records whose vector model identifiers differ. Compare the vector model identifiers of the bases; only bases with the same identifier may be associated jointly, while bases with different identifiers are excluded and recorded. No cross-model search is run.
- Draft sentence judgment check. The input is the sample source text and the draft sentence to be judged. Compare the three fields of subject, applicable warehouse and effective date. In the source text the two rules take effect on 1 March 2025 and 1 April 2025 respectively; the draft sentence places both warehouses under a single effective date, so the sentence is judged unsupported and the evidence gap is preserved.
- Empty-result handling check. The input is the paper input "[]", used to check how the downstream link handles zero-length reference content. Compare the node output with the direction of the downstream branch and confirm that the output link runs through. No claim is made that a search of any fictional rule necessarily returns an empty array.
A pending review status does not demonstrate a lack of operating permission. Signing, reaching agreement and contract effectiveness are three distinct facts, and a quotation validity period does not indicate a supply period. Retrieving related material shows only that the content can be recalled; business verification, approval and writes still require their own downstream implementation.
