What the documents look like
Warehouse picking, checking, and packing handles outbound orders. It does not process supplier arrivals. The records that matter for this task come from the warehouse management system, the order system, the electronic waybill platform, and weighing equipment. Data updates per order or per hour. The working documents are wave picking lists, checking records, waybills, and packaging consumable sheets.
For product and marketing copy drafting, the input is the record produced during picking, checking, and packing. The output is a draft sentence awaiting review. Citation tracing has one job: confirm whether a factual claim in a draft sentence maps to a specific documented field, and keep any evidence gap visible.
Three industry facts shape this step. First, the outbound boundary matters: a picking quantity is not a shipped quantity, and a checking record is not a delivery confirmation. Second, the source set is narrow: only the wave picking list, checking record, waybill, and packaging consumable sheet are available for citation. Third, the update cadence is per order or per hour, so a draft sentence must name the document and the field it relies on rather than assume a general truth about the product.
In the knowledge-base search node, one or more knowledge bases that share the same vector model can be selected for vector search. The node outputs a citation content array, and the length may be zero. When the array is empty, the output chain still runs. The minimum relevance value is a filter threshold and applies only during semantic retrieval or when result reranking is used. It does not act as a permission or entity isolation filter. The citation limit controls the maximum content cited per search, measured in tokens. Hybrid retrieval merges multiple result paths through RRF. Reranking requires a model and must be enabled by configuration. Image retrieval requires image input and model capability. Knowledge bases with different vector models cannot be associated together; the identifiers must be checked first and non-matching bases excluded.
Constraints at the citation tracing step
The task is narrow. A proposed copy sentence is checked against the source wording, and the comparison stays at the field level.
Hypothetical paper test case, clearly labelled as a constructed example for this page. The source material is a wave picking list and a checking record. The wave picking list states: "Wave number W-2025-0412, product A specification 500ml, picked quantity 12 units, picker scan confirmed." The checking record states: "Checker scanned product A barcode on 2025-04-12, actual received 12 units, packaging consumable is carton B." The draft sentence to be judged is: "This product ships 12 units per order and uses carton packaging."
The phrase "ships 12 units per order" shares the same subject and the same period with the picked quantity of 12 units on the wave picking list, but the fields differ. Picked quantity and shipped quantity are different fields. The shipped quantity is not stated. The claim is not supported. The phrase "uses carton packaging" matches the packaging consumable field on the checking record, which states carton B. That claim is supported.
A judgment requires the same subject, the same period, and the same field. A contradiction exists only when the same field holds mutually exclusive values. When a field is not stated, or when only evidence from a related stage exists, the result is unsupported or pending verification. A pending review does not show that an operating permission is missing. Signing, reaching cooperation, and a contract taking effect are three separate facts. A quotation validity period does not indicate a supply period. Authorization or effectiveness clauses must not be invented to obtain a definite answer; the evidence gap stays open.
Configuration and implementation checks
The table below is tied to the hypothetical test case above. Numeric values are starting points for this constructed trial, with the reason for choosing them and the comparison object stated.
| Configuration item | Hypothetical trial starting point | Reason and comparison object |
|---|---|---|
| Associated knowledge bases | Select the single knowledge base that corresponds to the sample material | Check whether the vector model identifiers match; exclude bases with different vector models |
| Search mode | Semantic retrieval | The sample draft sentence is a natural-language phrasing; compare recall differences between semantic retrieval and full-text retrieval |
| Minimum relevance | Set to 0.5 | Hypothetical starting point, used to observe whether the filtered citations still contain the sample source text; compare with the result when filtering is off |
| Citation limit | Set to 2000 tokens | Hypothetical starting point, used to observe whether the sample source text is cited in full; compare with a setting of 500 tokens |
| Result reranking | Enabled | When the sample has many candidate results, compare ordering with and without reranking |
| Question optimization | Off | The sample question is already explicit; compare retrieval time and recalled content with the setting on |
Reranking is not a switch for RRF. RRF is the fusion process for hybrid results. Image retrieval is an optional path that requires image input and model capability, and it does not run on every request. The same-vector-model requirement applies to associating knowledge bases; it must not be extended to require the same model in business registration sites or other external systems.
Three common errors
- Treating the picked quantity as the shipped quantity. Input: the wave picking list field showing picked quantity 12 units. Comparison object: the draft sentence "ships 12 units per order." Observable result: the fields differ, shipped quantity is not stated, and the claim is unsupported.
- Treating minimum relevance as a permission filter. Input: minimum relevance set to 0.5. Comparison object: whether the sample source text appears in the citation results. Observable result: relevance affects ordering and filtering only; it does not exclude unrelated businesses or unauthorized records.
- Treating an empty citation array as a workflow error. Input: the search node outputs an empty array. Comparison object: whether the downstream answer step still runs. Observable result: the output chain continues and no error is raised.
How to verify the setup
- Input the wave picking list source text from the hypothetical test case and the draft sentence "This product ships 12 units per order." Compare the picked quantity field with the shipped quantity field to see whether they are the same field. Observable result: the draft sentence is unsupported, and the evidence gap must be recorded.
- Input the checking record source text from the hypothetical test case and the draft sentence "uses carton packaging." Compare the packaging consumable field with the draft sentence description to see whether they match. Observable result: the draft sentence is supported, and the citation content includes carton B.
- Input an empty array as the search node output. Compare whether the downstream answer step continues to run. Observable result: the output chain runs through without an error. This result does not show that a search for an invented rule will always return an empty array.
These checks describe expected observations. They do not claim that a test, deployment, approval, or refund has occurred. When a required record is missing from the accessible target search scope or from a defined manual input, the gap is recorded rather than filled.
