Wholesale stall trading: citation tracing for copy drafting

Review citation tracing for copy drafting in Wholesale stall trading. Check document scope, failure paths and source evidence through controlled tests.

What the documents look like

Wholesale stall trading is scattered and small in scale. On-site bargaining and arranging freight take up much of the working day, and the recurring consequences are unpaid balances, wrong or short shipments, and market disputes. The documents handled daily are purchase receipts, handwritten sales slips, stall lease contracts, and payment receipts. Records update by day and by order.

For product and marketing copy drafting, every promotional sentence has to be checked against these materials line by line. Statements that no material supports can only be marked as pending verification. A purchase receipt records a supply relationship and quantities; a handwritten sales slip records a single sale and its payment status; a lease contract records stall use; a payment receipt records what was paid. None of these documents, on its own, establishes market-wide price levels or place of origin unless the relevant field is actually written down.

Constraints at the citation tracing step

The knowledge base search node can associate one or more knowledge bases that share the same vector model, and it outputs an array of cited content whose length may be zero. An empty array does not mean the workflow has failed or stopped; the output path still runs. Cited content then goes to the answering step, where the answer and the cited source text are checked item by item.

Retrieval is a recall process and does not perform authorization decisions. Semantic similarity and the minimum relevance value are filtering thresholds; they do not separate business entities or permission scopes. Hybrid retrieval fuses multiple result paths through RRF. Reranking requires a rerank model and must be enabled in the settings. Image retrieval requires image input and the corresponding model capability. These paths do not all execute on every request.

A hypothetical paper exercise sample is set out here for illustration only. Material text one: "March 1, 2025 purchase receipt: stall A purchased 200 jin of dried chili from supplier B at 12 yuan per jin, shipped the same day to stall 3, East Zone of the market." Material text two: "March 1, 2025 handwritten sales slip: stall A sold 50 jin of dried chili to buyer C at 15 yuan per jin, payment receipt number 003, balance unpaid." The draft sentence under review is: "This stall's dried chili is all supplied directly from the place of origin on the same day, at the lowest price in the whole market." The items being judged are "directly from the place of origin" and "lowest price in the whole market," compared against the subjects, dates, and field ranges in material texts one and two.

Configuration and implementation checks

Configuration itemHypothetical starting point for this exerciseReason and comparison object
Associated knowledge basesOnly the stall purchase receipt and sales slip basesCheck each base's vector model identifier first, exclude those with a different vector model, and do not run cross-model retrieval
Search modeHybrid retrievalNumbered and coded fields use full-text retrieval, natural-language phrasings use semantic retrieval, and the two are fused through RRF
Minimum relevanceHypothetical starting value 0.3Compare against each retrieval result for the draft sentence and observe whether low-relevance fragments are filtered; this is not an official default
Citation limitHypothetical starting value 2000 tokensCitation length is controlled by tokens; compare against the length of the sample materials; this is not an official default
Question optimizationNot enabled for this sampleThe draft sentence has a complete subject; compare against results with it enabled before deciding
Result rerankingNot enabled for this sampleKeep it off when no rerank model is available; compare against the 0-1 score after enabling before deciding

Three common errors

  1. Treating a retrieval hit as grounds for authorization or entity separation. Retrieval only returns cited content and does not judge whether stall A may use the material; permission checking requires a separate downstream implementation.
  2. Treating a similarity score as a business entity filter. The minimum relevance value only filters low-relevance fragments; it does not exclude unrelated stalls or unauthorized records.
  3. Treating a pending review or a quotation validity period as an established fact. In material text two the balance is unpaid, and the draft sentence "lowest price in the whole market" has no supporting field, so it cannot be written as confirmed.

Corresponding checks: check one, input the draft sentence together with material texts one and two, compare subjects, dates, and fields, and observe whether any field corresponds to "directly from the place of origin." Check two, input an empty array [] and observe whether the downstream answering step still runs, to see how empty citations are handled. Check three, input the same draft sentence through full-text retrieval and semantic retrieval separately, compare whether the two result paths are fused through RRF, and observe the contents of the citation array.

How to verify the setup

  • Verification one: input material text one and the draft sentence "this stall's dried chili is all supplied directly from the place of origin on the same day." Compare the purchase relationship between supplier B and stall A in the material. If the material contains no place-of-origin field, then "directly from the place of origin" is unsupported and the evidence gap must be recorded.
  • Verification two: input material text two and the draft sentence "lowest price in the whole market." Compare the single transaction record at 15 yuan per jin in the material. If the material contains no market-wide price range, then "lowest price in the whole market" is unsupported.
  • Verification three: input the citation array []. Compare whether the downstream answering step still executes. If the output path runs without error, the empty-result handling design meets the condition. All of the above are paper checks; no deployment or testing has taken place.
