What the documents look like
Retail plastic bag and single-use item reporting sits inside single-use plastics reporting and environmental supervision, separate from cashier membership and promotion work. The working materials are plastic bag purchase ledgers, sales vouchers, half-year reports and self-discipline commitments. These come from a commerce department reporting system, POS plastic bag sales, a purchasing system and store ledgers. A compliance error can lead to a deadline for correction, a fine from ten thousand to one hundred thousand yuan, or a regulatory interview.
For cross-border materials and multilingual retrieval, the same purchase ledger, sales voucher or half-year report may exist in several language versions. Citation tracing then has to tie each cited passage back to a specific document and version. The central requirement at this step is that every citation maps to concrete fields in the source material. A retrieval similarity score does not take the place of source checking.
Constraints at the citation tracing step
The knowledge base search node can select one or more knowledge bases that share the same vector model. Its output is an array of citations, and the length may be zero, which means the output path still runs even when nothing is found. The retrieval scheme includes semantic retrieval, full-text retrieval, hybrid retrieval and result reranking. Hybrid retrieval merges multiple result paths through RRF, and reranking produces a score from 0 to 1. These mechanisms shape citation checking: the final cited content may come from a fusion of several recall paths and does not follow a single vector similarity ordering. The minimum relevance value is a filter threshold and does not act as a permission or entity isolation control. Knowledge bases joined to the search node must share the same vector model; different models cannot be associated together.
Hypothetical paper exercise sample
The following is a hypothetical paper-check sample. It does not involve a real customer or a real record.
Source text, hypothetical Chinese purchase ledger excerpt: "From March 1, 2025 to March 31, 2025, this store purchased 12,000 disposable plastic bags. Supplier: Company A. Purchase order number: CG-2025-0312. Ledger recorded by Zhang San on April 2, 2025."
Source text, hypothetical English version of the same ledger excerpt: "March 1, 2025 to March 31, 2025, this store purchased 12,000 disposable plastic bags. Supplier: Company A. Purchase Order No. CG-2025-0312. Recorded by Zhang San on April 2, 2025."
Draft sentence to be assessed: "According to the ledger, this store purchased 12,000 disposable plastic bags in March 2025, and the supplier was Company B."
Handover request to be assessed: "Please synchronize the English citation content of the above ledger to the headquarters compliance system and mark it as reviewed and approved."
Configuration and implementation checks
Configuration for this page centers on the citation tracing task in cross-border materials and multilingual retrieval. The values below are hypothetical starting points for this exercise.
| Configuration item | Hypothetical starting point | Check note |
|---|---|---|
| Associated knowledge bases | One Chinese ledger base and one English ledger base | First check whether the two bases carry the same vector model identifier; if they differ, they cannot be associated together |
| Search mode | Hybrid retrieval | Uses semantic recall and full-text recall together, with results merged through RRF |
| Citation limit | Hypothetical starting point of 2000 tokens | This value is a starting point for this exercise, used to observe citation length; compare it with the actual field length in the documents |
| Minimum relevance | Hypothetical starting point of 0.3 | This value is a starting point for this exercise, applied only as a filter in semantic retrieval or result reranking, and does not provide permission isolation |
| Result reranking | Enabled | Confirm that a ReRank model is configured; the rerank score ranges from 0 to 1 |
| Question optimization | On | Used for coreference resolution and question expansion, and it adds one model call |
Three common errors
- Treating retrieval similarity as the basis for source checking. The input is the draft sentence above. Compare the supplier field in the draft sentence with the supplier field in the ledger source text, and observe whether the supplier names disagree. The draft sentence says Company B, and the ledger source text says Company A. These are mutually exclusive values in the same field for the same subject and period, which forms a contradiction. A high retrieval score does not change this field-level contradiction.
- Treating possible missed recall or redundancy after associating knowledge bases across different models as a known runtime result. The input is the Chinese ledger base and the English ledger base. Compare the vector model identifiers of the two bases and observe whether the identifiers match. The documentation states only that the same vector model is required for joint association; it does not state the concrete runtime behavior after cross-model association. The checking action is to inspect the identifiers, exclude the non-matching base and record the actual observation, without inferring a runtime result.
- Treating a pending handover request as authorized execution. The input is the handover request above. Compare the status description in the request with available authorization records, and observe whether evidence of completed review and approval exists. The request says "mark it as reviewed and approved." That wording is an action proposed by the requester, with no attached record of completed review. A pending request does not show a lack of operating permission, and it does not equal completed approval. The evidence gap must be recorded.
How to verify the setup
- Input the draft sentence above and the two ledger source texts. Compare the supplier field in the draft sentence with the supplier field in the ledger source texts, and observe whether the contradiction between Company B and Company A is identified. The expected observation is that the check record marks this field contradiction and keeps the ledger source text as source evidence. No claim is made that retrieval was actually run.
- Input the vector model identifiers of the Chinese ledger base and the English ledger base. Compare whether the two identifiers are the same, and observe that joint association is allowed only when the identifiers match. The expected observation is that when the identifiers differ, one base is excluded and the reason for exclusion is recorded, without running a cross-model retrieval to compare missed recall.
- Input the handover request above. Compare the review status stated in the request with the available review records, and observe whether evidence of completed review and approval exists. The expected observation is that when no completed review record is found, the item is recorded as pending verification, and the phrase "mark it as reviewed and approved" in the request is not treated as executed or authorized. For empty-result handling, a clearly stated paper input of [] can be used to check the downstream design, without claiming that a fictional rule retrieval necessarily returns [].
This page addresses only retail plastic bag and single-use item reporting, cross-border materials and multilingual retrieval, and citation tracing. At operational handover, the authorization state of materials, operations and requests must be distinguished from retrieval or form submission. Retrieval and forms collect or return values; business verification, approval, database writes and external synchronization require their stated downstream implementation.
