What the documents look like
Category access review happens before a product is listed or a store is onboarded. The review target is the business entity and its authorization chain, not the storefront's reputation or sales history. The working materials are the business license, the trademark registration certificate, the brand authorization chain, and the industry license. These come from platform recruitment pages, the national enterprise credit information system, trademark office data, and license systems. They update irregularly and are reassembled at each onboarding.
For copy drafting this means every sentence that names a brand, an entity, or a qualification status must trace back to a specific passage in a specific material. A material carries a subject, an object, a status, and an effective scope. A draft sentence that reaches past those fields is unsupported.
Constraints at the citation tracing step
The knowledge base search node can associate one or more knowledge bases that share the same vector model. Its output is an array of citations, and the length may be zero. An empty array does not mean the workflow has errored or terminated. The retrieval result is handed to the answering step, where the answer is checked line by line against the cited source text. The minimum relevance setting is a filter threshold that takes effect only under semantic retrieval or result reranking; it does not perform subject, category, or permission isolation. Retrieval is not an authorization decision.
Hypothetical paper exercise sample. Material text A: "The trademark registration certificate No. 12345678 is held by XX Food Co., Ltd., with approved goods in Class 30 convenience foods, valid until January 1, 2030." Material text B: "XX Food Co., Ltd. authorizes XX Trading Co., Ltd. to sell the above registered instant noodle products through online channels from January 1, 2025 to December 31, 2025." Draft sentence under review: "This store is an officially authorized store of XX Food Co., Ltd., and all instant noodles sold are supplied directly by the brand."
Configuration and implementation checks
| Configuration item | Assumed starting point for this exercise | Reason and comparison object |
|---|---|---|
| Associated knowledge bases | Qualification materials base | Check the selected base and its material version first; confirm the vector model identifier matches before associating together |
| Search mode | Hybrid retrieval | The authorization chain contains numbers and proper nouns, so semantic and full-text recall both need to participate |
| Citation limit | Set in tokens | Compare against the candidate chunk length distribution so long chunks do not crowd out citation slots |
| Minimum relevance | Takes effect only under semantic retrieval or reranking | Compare against the relevance distribution of recalled results; not used to exclude unrelated subjects |
| Question optimization | Enable as needed | Compare against retrieval results for a single clear question; enabling adds one model call |
| Citation content output | Carried to the answering step | Check line by line against the downstream answer; treat an empty array as a zero-length citation |
Three common errors
- Treating minimum relevance as a subject or permission filter. The input is a similarity threshold; the comparison object is the vector or rerank score. This setting does not read the business license subject field. An observable result is that a low-scoring material with the correct subject is filtered out, or a high-scoring material with a mismatched subject is still recalled.
- Treating the retrieval output as an authorization conclusion. The input is the citation array; the comparison object is the authorization period and channel scope in the source text. The node does not decide whether an authorization is in effect. An observable result is that the answer cites a material while the draft sentence reaches beyond the authorized object or period.
- Forcing knowledge bases with different vector models into one association. The input is the vector model identifier of each base; the comparison object is whether the identifiers match. When they do not match, cross-model retrieval is not executed. An observable result is that a base with a different identifier appears in the association list.
How to verify the setup
- Input the material texts above and the draft sentence. Compare "officially authorized store" and "supplied directly by the brand" in the draft against the authorized subject, channel, and period in the source. The citation tracing condition is met only when each phrase can be traced word for word to the corresponding field in the source; otherwise record it as unsupported.
- Input a paper-level empty array
[]as the citation output. Compare whether the downstream answering step continues with zero citations, and observe whether the workflow fails to break on the empty array. This check does not claim that any particular retrieval will return an empty array. - Input the associated base list. Compare the vector model identifiers of each base. Bases with mismatched identifiers should be excluded and recorded; do not run cross-model retrieval to compare recall differences.
