What the documents look like
Parcel handoff happens at the point where a package leaves the warehouse, and the carrier scan result determines where responsibility sits. The working documents for this stage are electronic waybills, handoff manifests, pickup scan records, and exception item registers. Their update rhythm is per batch and daily. For product and marketing copy drafting, the central question is narrow: when a draft sentence states a time commitment, a coverage scope, or a handoff status, does that exact claim have a corresponding source in the current batch materials.
Materials are spread across the courier system, WMS shipment records, carrier billing, and handoff manifests. A single batch of parcels can simultaneously exist in three states: waybill printed, listed on the handoff manifest, and pickup scan recorded. These three states do not automatically share the same time or the same responsible party. When a draft treats one of them as proof of another, the stated source and the stated claim drift apart. The update frequency of daily and per-batch records matters here only because it sets the version boundary; it does not by itself establish any synchronization behavior.
Constraints at the citation tracing step
The knowledge base search node outputs a citation array, and its length can be zero. An empty array still completes the output path. The search scope is limited to the selected knowledge bases, and only knowledge bases sharing the same vector model can be associated together. The minimum relevance value is a filter threshold that takes effect only under semantic retrieval or when result reranking is used; it does not perform permission isolation or entity isolation. The citation upper limit is measured in tokens and is unrelated to the thinking budget.
Hypothetical drill sample: the source text reads "The 10 March 2025 handoff manifest lists waybills YT0001 through YT0050 with status handed off," "The same-day pickup scan record shows YT0001 through YT0042 scanned," and "The carrier billing does not include YT0043 through YT0050." The draft sentence to be judged is "All 50 parcels in this batch completed pickup on 10 March." The subject needed for judgment is the waybill number range, the object is pickup completion status, and the effective scope is 10 March 2025. The source text supports only 42 scanned parcels, so the draft phrase "all completed" is not supported.
Configuration and implementation checks
| Configuration item | Hypothetical starting point for this drill | Reason and comparison method |
|---|---|---|
| Associated knowledge bases | Waybill and handoff materials library | Check the selected library and material version, and confirm the vector model identifiers match |
| Search mode | Hybrid retrieval | Waybill numbers are precise identifiers, so semantic and full-text retrieval each contribute |
| Citation upper limit | 800 tokens | Hypothetical starting point, adjusted after comparing against the sample source length |
| Minimum relevance | 0.4 | Hypothetical starting point, adjusted after comparing against sample hit scores |
| Result reranking | Enabled | Second-pass ordering when candidates are numerous; the score is used for filtering |
| Citation content output | Array, empty allowed | An empty array is passed downstream to be handled as no source |
Three common errors
- Treating the pickup scan record as proof that all parcels were picked up. Input the scan record and the draft sentence, compare the scanned waybill range against the coverage range in the draft sentence, and observe whether a range mismatch appears.
- Treating the handoff manifest status as proof that the carrier has received the parcels. Input the handoff manifest and the billing, compare the manifest waybill range against the billing coverage, and observe whether the billing is missing part of the waybill range.
- Treating a retrieval hit as a verified source. Input the citation array and the draft sentence, compare the cited source text against the draft wording, and observe whether the draft sentence exceeds the scope stated in the source.
How to verify the setup
- Input the sample source text and the draft sentence, compare the draft phrase "all completed pickup" against the scan record "YT0001 through YT0042," and treat a range mismatch as the condition for judging the claim unsupported.
- Input the handoff manifest and the carrier billing, compare the manifest waybill range against the billing coverage, and record an evidence gap when the billing lacks YT0043 through YT0050.
- Input an empty citation array, check whether this output is passed downstream to be handled as no source, and observe whether the downstream still produces a definite statement without a source.
The retrieval step does not perform authorization, and a relevance score is not a category, entity, or permission filter. The same-vector-model requirement for associated knowledge bases does not extend to any external system. Cross-model knowledge bases cannot be associated together; the correct action is to check the model identifier, exclude those that do not match, and record the actual observation rather than executing a cross-model retrieval to compare missed recalls. The optional paths in the overall retrieval flow are not all executed on every request: image retrieval requires a corresponding image input and model capability, and reranking requires a reranking model enabled by configuration. When a judgment is made, the subject, period, and field must match; only mutually exclusive values in the same field count as a contradiction. A stage that is not stated, or that has only related-stage evidence, is unsupported or pending verification. A pending review does not prove a lack of operating permission. Signing, reaching cooperation, and contract effectiveness are three distinct facts. A quotation validity period does not indicate a supply period. The materials needed for verification must sit inside an accessible target retrieval scope or an explicit manual input; when missing, record the gap.
