What the documents look like
TikTok Shop US operations differ from Douyin Shop shelf operations in the weight carried by local return windows, return grading, and overseas logistics constraints. Procurement and supplier material therefore arrives as four recurring document families: product listings, return and refund records, return grading evidence, and settlement statements. These materials update daily or per order, and purchase quantities, return batches, and settlement deductions have to be matched order by order.
Document parsing and chunking exists here to answer one question at retrieval time: can the material belonging to one supplier, one purchase batch, and one return period be recalled as a complete unit so a person can check its authorization state. Chunking that separates a condition from the thing it constrains produces fragments missing the subject, object, or validity range needed for that judgment.
Constraints at the document chunking step
The four document families have different internal structures. A listing carries specifications and identifiers. A return record carries status and dates. Return grading evidence carries images and descriptions. A settlement statement carries deduction line items.
In FastGPT, one data group can map to multiple vectors, and when several vectors resolve to the same original data the vector score takes the highest value. Semantic retrieval and full-text retrieval combine through RRF, and ReRank can reorder candidates a second time. Minimum relevance is a filter threshold that applies only under semantic retrieval or result reordering; it does not perform permission or entity isolation. Libraries built on different vector models cannot be associated together, so identifiers must be checked first and non-matching libraries excluded.
A hypothetical paper exercise sample follows. The source text is: "Supplier A issued a quotation on 1 March 2025, number Q-0301, listing the unit price of Product X, valid until 31 March 2025. On 10 March 2025 purchase order PO-0310 confirmed 200 units of Product X, with delivery date 15 April 2025." The draft sentence to be judged is: "Supplier A has confirmed supply of Product X through 15 April 2025." This sentence merges the quotation validity date with the delivery date. The quotation states no supply period, and the purchase order confirms quantity and delivery date, so the supply commitment is not supported.
Configuration and implementation checks
| Configuration item | Hypothetical trial starting point | Reason and comparison method |
|---|---|---|
| Search mode | Hybrid retrieval | Identifier Q-0301 and natural-language questions coexist; compare the semantic and full-text recall paths |
| Citation limit | Hypothetical starting point of 2000 tokens | Set from the sample material length; compare against the actual token count after chunking |
| Minimum relevance | Hypothetical starting point of 0.4 | Compare against the 0-1 ReRank score and observe whether the quotation fragment is filtered out |
| Question optimization | Enabled | A follow-up such as "that batch" needs coreference resolution; compare recalled content with the setting disabled |
| Segmentation method | Segmentation by document type | Compare whether the quotation and the purchase order are split away from their subject and dates |
| Post-update review | Manual check of training state | After upload, check the actual index and compare with the upload success state |
Three common errors
- Treating a quotation validity date as a supply period. Input the draft sentence together with the quotation source text, then compare "valid until 31 March 2025" against "delivery date 15 April 2025." These are different fields, and the draft sentence's supply confirmation is not supported.
- Treating a retrieval hit as an authorization action. Input purchase order PO-0310 and compare what it confirms: quantity and delivery date. It states no approval or payment authorization, so retrieving this order does not mean the purchase was approved.
- Treating a successful upload as an updated index. Input the updated quotation and compare the upload state against the actual training state. Before training completion is checked, retrieval may still return the older fragment.
How to verify the setup
- Input the quotation source text and the draft sentence, then compare the quotation validity field against the supply period field. The draft sentence is judged unsupported, and the quotation fragment is recalled completely with identifier Q-0301 present.
- Input purchase order PO-0310 and compare the confirmed quantity of 200 units against the delivery date of 15 April 2025. The retrieval result retains subject Supplier A and object Product X, with no approval or payment authorization wording appearing.
- Input the updated quotation and compare the upload time against the training completion state. If training is incomplete, record that the index is not updated, and do not treat upload success as retrieval being updated. An empty result can be checked against downstream design using the paper input [], without claiming that a fictional rule's retrieval necessarily returns [].
This page covers only TikTok Shop US operations, procurement and supplier material, and document parsing and chunking. During operations handover, the authorization state of materials, actions, and requests must be established from source documents; retrieval results and forms are not authorization execution.
