What the documents look like
Semi-managed sellers on Temu maintain overseas inventory and complete dispatch themselves, rather than only supplying goods to the platform. This changes the document landscape. A single product can appear across a product declaration form, an overseas inventory table, a price declaration, and a platform fulfilment order. These materials sit in Temu Seller Center, an overseas warehouse WMS, logistics tracking, and a purchase cost table.
Updates arrive daily and per order. The same product may therefore exist in several materials that describe declaration, inventory, and fulfilment in different ways. Citation tracing for cross-border materials and multilingual retrieval answers a narrow question: which material, and which version of that material, does a retrieved result point to, and can the quoted passage in an answer be traced back to a specific document.
The knowledge base search node can associate one or more knowledge bases that share the same vector model, and it outputs citations as an array, which may have a length of zero. The citation limit is controlled in tokens. The minimum relevance value applies only during semantic retrieval or when result reranking is used. Semantic retrieval supports cross-language understanding, so a Chinese question can match an English knowledge point. This matters for multilingual materials. Retrieval results pass through similarity filtering and citation-limit trimming before they are returned. Retrieval itself does not confirm material currency, authorization status, or business validity.
Constraints at the citation tracing step
A hypothetical paper exercise sample. Material text one: a product declaration form states "Declaring entity: a cross-border supplier in East China; product object: folding storage rack; declaration status is submitted, pending platform review; applicable period: March 2025." Material text two: the corresponding overseas inventory table states "same product; inventory status: in transit; quantity basis: 120 units; update date: 18 March 2025." Draft sentence to be assessed: "The product declaration has received platform approval and listing can be arranged." The evidence needed for this judgment is the platform review result field. The sample contains only "submitted, pending platform review." The approval fact is not stated.
The citation limit is expressed in tokens, not top-k items. The minimum relevance value is a 0-1 number that filters low-relevance results and takes effect only in semantic retrieval or with result reranking. It is a filter threshold, not a final ordering rule. When question optimization, hybrid retrieval, image retrieval, or reranking is enabled, results may be fused from several recall paths and need not follow a single vector similarity order. The citation output is an array whose length may be zero, meaning the output path still completes when nothing is found. The search node does not verify whether a cited material is current, authorized, or effective. Those checks remain downstream.
Configuration and implementation checks
| Configuration or check item | Value or action in this page's sample | Nature and basis |
|---|---|---|
| Associated knowledge bases | Select multilingual material bases sharing one vector model; verify each base identifier | Existing node behavior; only identical vector models can be associated together |
| Citation limit | Hypothetical trial starting point set to a number of tokens, compared against the citation length the sample answer needs, then adjusted | Hypothetical starting point, not an official default |
| Minimum relevance | Hypothetical trial starting point set to a value between 0 and 1; effective only in semantic retrieval or with reranking | Hypothetical starting point, not an official default |
| Citation output | Check whether the output array corresponds item by item to the declaration form and inventory table text | Existing node behavior; array length may be zero |
| Citation input handoff | Verify whether retrieval output is passed to the answering step and whether the answer traces each citation back to source text | Manual check |
| Material currency check | Retrieve with the current and a historical declaration form; record the returned version identifier | Manual check; whether to adopt a citation still depends on valid-version review |
Three common errors
- Treating a retrieval hit as authorization confirmation. Input the sample draft sentence and compare "has received platform approval" against "submitted, pending platform review." The entity, object, and period match, and the field values are mutually exclusive. The sample supports only the pending-review status. The approval fact is unsupported. Executable check: locate the review result field and observe whether an approval value exists; when absent, record the evidence gap.
- Forcing knowledge bases with different vector models into one association. Input two base identifiers and compare their vector model identifiers. Different identifiers mean exclusion; do not run cross-model retrieval to compare missed recalls. Executable check: verify the base identifier and vector model identifier, and record the exclusion result.
- Treating minimum relevance as a permission or entity filter. Input a material belonging to another business entity and compare returned content before and after filtering. The similarity threshold does not distinguish entity ownership. Executable check: confirm the retrieval scope was defined by authorization; retrieval results do not replace permission judgment.
How to verify the setup
- Verification one: use material text one and two as retrieval input. Compare whether returned citations correspond item by item to the declaration form and inventory table source text and version identifiers. Observe whether the citation array is non-empty and traceable. Expected: citations are traceable; a first-hit match or full recall is not guaranteed.
- Verification two: use the sample draft sentence as the input to be assessed. Compare "has received platform approval" in the draft against "submitted, pending platform review" in the source. Observe whether the result is judged unsupported with the evidence gap preserved. Expected: pending verification, not judged as negation or conflict.
- Verification three: use an explicit paper input of an empty array to check downstream handoff design. Compare whether the downstream step continues on the empty citation path. Observe whether an undefined error appears. Expected: the path completes; no claim is made that a fictional rule retrieval always returns an empty array.
This page addresses one scope: Temu semi-managed seller operations, cross-border materials and multilingual retrieval, citation sources and tracing. During operational handover, the authorization status of materials, actions, and requests must be distinguished; retrieval or form submission cannot be treated as authorized execution.
