Trade and FX administration: citation tracing for multilingual work

Review citation tracing for multilingual work in Trade and FX administration. Check sources, input boundaries, error handling and repeatable test evidence.

What the documents look like

Trade and FX administration in this category centres on the authenticity of foreign-exchange funds and the underlying trade background. The document set differs from letter-of-credit examination, which reviews a full set of documents: here the working papers are inward remittance advices, trade contracts, invoices, and foreign-exchange business registration materials. Sources include State Administration of Foreign Exchange policy, bank online portals, corporate finance ledgers, and customs export data. Materials update per transaction and monthly.

For citation tracing, multilingual and multi-version remittance and registration materials must be organised into traceable references. A knowledge-base search node can associate one or more knowledge bases that share the same vector model; bases with different vector models cannot be associated together. Reference output is an array whose length may be zero, and an empty array does not mean the workflow has errored or terminated. Semantic search supports cross-language matching. The reference cap is controlled in tokens. The minimum relevance value applies only to semantic search or result reranking, and it is a filtering threshold rather than a final ranking rule. RRF is a fusion step for hybrid retrieval results. Retrieval itself does not constitute authorisation; business verification, approval, database writes, and external synchronisation each require their own downstream implementation.

Constraints at the citation tracing step

The tracing task is to connect each drafted statement back to the exact source wording and to record where that wording is silent. The following hypothetical drill sample is clearly labelled and is not a real customer, real company, or real identification number.

Hypothetical drill sample: a trading enterprise submits an inward remittance advice. The advice states the payer is "HYPOTHETICAL TRADING LTD", the payee is "Sample Import and Export Co., Ltd.", the amount is USD 120,000, the date is 10 March 2025, and the status is "credited". The trade contract submitted in the same batch is numbered "HT-2025-031", the signing parties match the two parties above, and the signing date is 28 February 2025. The draft sentence to be assessed is: "The trade contract corresponding to this inward remittance has taken effect." The contract text states no effectiveness condition and no effectiveness date; it records only a signing date.

Under these conditions, the draft sentence is not supported. A signing date is not an effectiveness date, and the contract text does not state when or whether effectiveness occurs. The evidence gap must remain open rather than being filled by assumption. Similarly, a retrieval hit on the remittance advice or contract does not authorise crediting the funds; retrieval is not an authorisation step.

Configuration and implementation checks

Configuration or check itemHypothetical starting point for this drillReason and comparison method
Associated knowledge basesSelect two bases sharing one vector modelCompare vector model identifiers; only matching identifiers may be associated
Search modeHybrid retrievalCompare hit behaviour on numbered fields against pure semantic retrieval
Reference capStart at 3000 tokensCompare against total sample material length before adjusting
Minimum relevanceStart at 0.4Compare against rerank score distribution and observe remaining items after filtering
Result rerankingEnabledCompare candidate ordering with and without reranking
Reference hand-offSearch output passed to the answering stepCheck each answer sentence against the quoted source text

The minimum relevance value is a filtering threshold, not a category, entity, or permission filter, and it does not exclude unrelated businesses or unauthorised records. The same-vector-model requirement applies to knowledge-base association only and does not extend to industrial and commercial registry sites or other external systems. The reference cap uses the documented token unit. RRF is a documented fusion process for hybrid results, not a toggle switch. The thinking budget is a reasoning budget and is not the reference token cap.

Three common errors

  1. Treating a retrieval hit as business authorisation. Input: the remittance advice and contract above. If the retrieval result is used directly to decide that funds may be credited, the retrieval step has been treated as an authorisation action. Retrieval does not perform authorisation judgement; crediting requires its own downstream implementation.
  2. Treating a signing date as contract effectiveness. Input: the draft sentence and the contract text above. The draft sentence asserts the contract has taken effect, while the contract records only a signing date and states no effectiveness condition. The same field lacks an effectiveness value, so the assertion is unsupported and cannot be judged as effective.
  3. Associating bases across different vector models. Input: two knowledge bases whose vector model identifiers differ. If they are associated together and results are compared on that basis, the documented condition has been crossed. The identifiers should be checked first and non-matching bases excluded; no cross-model retrieval should be run to compare missed recalls.

How to verify the setup

  1. Input the remittance advice text and the draft sentence above. Compare the phrase "has taken effect" in the draft sentence against the fields recorded in the contract text. When the contract states no effectiveness condition and no effectiveness date, record the result as unsupported and log the evidence gap. Expected observation: the draft sentence is not confirmed by the quoted source.
  2. Input two knowledge bases whose vector model identifiers differ. Compare whether the identifiers match. When they do not match, exclude that base and do not run cross-model retrieval to compare missed recalls. Expected observation: only bases with matching identifiers proceed to association.
  3. Input a paper empty result array [] and compare the downstream hand-off design against zero-length handling. Observe whether the downstream path continues without being judged as an errored termination. Expected observation: the empty array is carried through as a valid zero-length output.

These checks describe what to compare and what remains unknown. They do not claim that any test, deployment, approval, refund, or other business action has occurred. Where a document field is not provided, it remains unknown. A pending request is not an approval, an offered option is not an execution, and an unsigned termination is not a completed termination.
