Marketplace promotions: citation tracing for multilingual work

Review citation tracing for multilingual work in Marketplace promotions. Check document scope, failure paths and source evidence through controlled tests.

What the documents look like

Promotion enrolment in this category turns on price, inventory, and campaign rhythm. The working materials are an activity enrolment form, a promotional price approval form, an inventory lock form, and a post-campaign review form. Records update weekly or per campaign. A single campaign commonly holds a Chinese enrolment form alongside an English approval form, and the retrieval task is to find the original materials for the same campaign across languages and to have each answer point back to its source line.

These materials do not by themselves constitute authorization. The enrolment form collects field values, the approval form records an approval opinion, and the inventory lock form records a lock scope. Each status stands on its own. Retrieval can surface a document whose approval stage is still open, and finding that document does not mean the price has taken effect.

Constraints at the citation tracing step

The knowledge base search node can associate one or more knowledge bases that share the same vector model, and it outputs citations as an array whose length may be zero. When nothing is retrieved, that output path still runs. The citation limit controls how many tokens a single search may cite. The minimum relevance value is a filter threshold that applies only under semantic retrieval or when result reranking is used. Neither the citation limit nor the minimum relevance value performs permission or entity isolation.

Hybrid retrieval merges multiple result paths through RRF, and reranking produces a 0-1 score. These scores reflect degree of relevance only. A retrieved material is not an approved material, and a retrieved price is not an effective price.

Hypothetical drill sample: a brand sales planner prepares materials for one platform campaign. The Chinese activity enrolment form states "campaign period 2026-03-01 to 2026-03-07, enrolment status is submitted, promotional price approval form number A-207 pending review." The English promotional price approval form states "Approval ID A-207, status is pending review, valid quote period 2026-02-20 to 2026-02-28." The draft sentence to be judged is "The promotional price for this campaign has been approved and may be executed under A-207." The source text shows only that approval is pending review. It states no approval conclusion, and it states no relationship between the quote validity period and a supply period. The draft sentence is therefore unsupported.

Configuration and implementation checks

Configuration or check itemHypothetical trial starting point for this pageReason for the choice and what it is compared against
Associated knowledge basesChinese enrolment form base, English approval form baseThe two bases must share the same vector model to be associated together; check the identifier first and exclude any base that does not match
Search modeHybrid retrievalThe enrolment form carries a campaign number and dates, and the approval form carries number A-207, so semantic and full-text paths each have a use
Citation limitHypothetical trial starting point of 2000 tokensThis value is a hypothetical starting point, used to compare citation counts and truncation behaviour across different values
Minimum relevanceHypothetical trial starting point of 0.5This value is a hypothetical starting point, effective only under semantic retrieval or result reranking; compare candidates before and after filtering
Result rerankingEnabledAfter hybrid retrieval the range is wide; use the 0-1 rerank score to observe ordering changes
Citation output handoffCheck each answer against the cited source lineCheck whether the citation array is passed to the answering step, and treat an empty array as a miss

Three common errors

  1. Treating a retrieval hit as a completed approval. The input is the approval form containing A-207 pending review; the comparison object is the draft sentence "has been approved"; the observable result is that the source text shows only pending review, so the draft sentence is unsupported.
  2. Treating the quote validity period as a supply period. The input is valid quote period 2026-02-20 to 2026-02-28; the comparison object is campaign period 2026-03-01 to 2026-03-07; the observable result is that the two date ranges belong to different fields, and no supply period is stated.
  3. Treating minimum relevance as a permission filter. The input is materials for different campaigns inside the same base; the comparison object is the relevance score against access authorization; the observable result is that a high or low score does not exclude unauthorized records, and permission must be implemented downstream.

How to verify the setup

  1. Search for A-207 using the sample above. The input is the Chinese enrolment form and the English approval form; compare whether the answer points to the source line by line; the observable result is that each citation traces back to its material and that pending review is not written as approved.
  2. Check the downstream design with a paper input of an empty citation array []. Compare whether the downstream handles the miss branch; the observable result is that the path runs and no source is fabricated.
  3. Check the association condition with two bases that use different vector models. The input is the two base identifiers; compare whether the vector models match; the observable result is that a mismatched base is excluded and the actual observation recorded, with no cross-model retrieval executed.
